The Opportunity
We are currently looking for a Platform Engineer - Senior:
As a Senior Platform Engineer, you will leverage your technical expertise to implement best practices, driving continuous improvement through automation and innovation. Your responsibilities will extend to supporting and mentoring the Platform Engineering and Operations team, fostering collaboration with other teams within Gentrack and our third-party partners.
The Platform Engineering Operations team is responsible for managing the infrastructure of Gentracks core products on a global scale within engineering and operational disciplines. The team collaborates seamlessly to develop, build, test, deploy, operate, and manage infrastructure hosting solutions for our customers. As a Senior Platform Engineer, you will play a pivotal part in handling escalations for troubleshooting, resolution, root cause analysis, and proactively addressing customer platform issues. Your expertise will be crucial in guiding and collaborating with engineering staff across the organization to collectively achieve our service goals.

The Specifics
Facilitate the coordination of daily stand-ups, workload planning and operational duties, alongside team members.
Where necessary take the technical lead in developing, building, and testing activities for platform architectures.
Create, update, and review comprehensive documentation for engineering and operations processes, procedures, and system information.
Conduct audits, reporting, and governance activities to uphold engineering and operations standards and compliance.
Identify opportunities for engineering improvements and contribute to proposals for analysis and decision-making.
Lead technical efforts in deploying, operating, and managing platform activities.
Respond to platform incidents, conducting thorough technical investigations, resolutions, and reviews.
Proactively monitor and manage service health and performance to ensure optimal functionality.
Work to standard UK business hours (between 8am and 6pm) to ensure close integration and coordination with UK based team members.
Serve as a point of escalation for the on-call support rota, ensuring 24/7 customer platform support.
Centre all thought, analysis, response, and decision-making on the customer and the success of the business.
Engage and support internal teams, third parties, and customers through effective and appropriate channels.
Represent the business as a technical lead in direct communication with customers when necessary.
Participate in scheduled out-of-hours work and standby support coverage as required.
What were looking for
Minimum of 4 years of experience in a similar role as a senior engineer within a Systems Administrator and DevOps role delivering engineering and operations towards platform / infrastructure architecture with ISO 27001 and SOC 2 compliance.
Highly skilled and mostly self-sufficient in the following
o Any Linux distribution(s). Certification is a bonus.
o AWS using IAM, VPC, EC2 and ECS both via console and CLI. Certification is a bonus.
o Highly skilled and mostly self-sufficient in Terraform. Certification is a bonus.
o Moderate to highly skilled in writing Ansible playbooks to automate server provisioning.
o Basic to moderate skills in Python scripting knowledge is advantageous.
Strong fundamentals in technical support, with experience in troubleshooting systems from multiple areas including virtualized compute, networking and storage.
Proven hands-on experience of the above points is essential.
Working within ITIL service management frameworks and developing process improvements.
Working within agile methodologies with scrum teams, sprints, and Kanban boards.
Using Atlassian services (JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket).
Working within a Dev-Sec-Fin-Ops culture and practice.
