Head of Operations - Textile Industry

Position Overview:
The Head of Operations in the textile industry is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing and managing all operational functions within the organization. This includes ensuring the efficient production, quality control, supply chain management, and distribution of textile products. The role involves strategic planning, resource management, process optimization, and collaboration with other departments to meet business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Leadership:

• Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of all textile production facilities, ensuring optimal performance, efficiency, and quality standards.
• Develop and implement operational strategies to streamline processes and achieve cost reductions while maintaining high product quality.
• Oversee the development of production schedules, ensuring timely delivery of products and fulfilment of customer requirements.

Production Management:

• Ensure smooth functioning of the entire process, including fabric manufacturing, dyeing, printing, finishing, and packaging.
• Monitor and optimize machine usage, labour productivity, and material consumption.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives in production to meet industry standards and business objectives.

Supply Chain & Inventory Management:

• Oversee the entire supply chain process from raw material procurement to finished goods delivery.
• Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure timely and cost-effective sourcing of raw materials.
• Optimize inventory management practices to minimize waste, reduce holding costs, and ensure product availability.

Quality Control and Compliance:

• Implement and maintain quality control standards to ensure products meet customer expectations and regulatory requirements.
• Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor product quality and operational performance.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, environmental regulations, and safety protocols across the production floor.

Team Leadership & Development:

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of managers, supervisors, and operators.
• Promote a culture of teamwork, innovation, and continuous improvement.
• Conduct performance evaluations and implement training programs to upskill employees.

Financial Management:

• Develop and manage operational budgets, ensuring cost-effective operations.
• Analyse financial performance and work on cost-saving strategies without compromising quality.
• Monitor capital expenditure for production equipment and ensure efficient use of resources.

Strategic Planning:

• Work with senior leadership to develop and implement long-term operational strategies aligned with overall business objectives.
• Drive new initiatives to expand production capabilities and explore opportunities for automation or process innovation.
• Implement new technologies or systems to improve operational efficiency and quality.

Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance:

• Ensure adherence to workplace safety protocols and the maintenance of a safe working environment.
• Promote sustainable practices within the operation, including waste reduction and energy conservation.

Customer Relations & Product Delivery:

• Work closely with the sales and customer service teams to ensure alignment with customer requirements and expectations.
• Manage production schedules to meet delivery deadlines and resolve any production or delivery issues.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Textile Engineering, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related field (Master's degree is a plus).
• Minimum 8-10 years of experience in operations management within the textile industry, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
• Proven experience in managing large teams and multi-site operations.
• In-depth knowledge of textile production processes, supply chain management, and quality assurance.
• Strong understanding of industry standards, regulations, and compliance requirements.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Proficient in operations software, ERP systems, and MS Office Suite.
• Ability to work under pressure and handle high-stakes situations.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.
• Knowledge of sustainability practices in textile manufacturing.
• Familiarity with the latest trends in textile technology and automation.
• Candidate should know Kannada, Hindi

Working Conditions:

• Full-time position, with occasional travel to production sites and supplier locations.
• Will require time flexibility to oversee operations during peak periods.
