Role & responsibilities
Greeting and Seating Guests
Welcome customers warmly as they arrive.
Escort them to their tables or seating areas, providing menus and specials if applicable.
Taking Orders
Listen carefully to customers food and drink orders, answering questions about menu items or bar offerings.
Offer recommendations (e.g., wine pairings, signature cocktails, or popular dishes).
Note any special requests or dietary restrictions to relay to the kitchen or bar staff.
Serving Food and Beverages
Deliver orders promptly and accurately to tables.
Ensure drinks are poured or mixed correctly (in some cases, they may prepare simple drinks themselves).
Check that food presentation and quality meet expectations before serving.
Customer Service
Check in with guests during their meal or visit to ensure satisfaction.
Address complaints or issues, escalating to a manager if necessary.
Maintain a friendly, attentive, and professional demeanor.
Upselling and Suggesting Add-Ons
Promote specials, desserts, or additional drinks to enhance the customer experience and boost sales.
Highlight premium items or limited-time offers.
Handling Payments
Present bills to customers and process payments (cash, card, or digital).
Ensure accurate billing and return change or receipts as needed.
Maintaining Cleanliness
Clear tables of empty plates, glasses, and trash during and after service.
Wipe down tables, chairs, or bar areas to prepare for the next guests.
Assist with light cleaning tasks, like sweeping or restocking napkins and condiments.
Team Collaboration
Communicate effectively with kitchen staff, bartenders, and managers to coordinate orders and timing.
Help colleagues during busy shifts, such as running food or drinks for other tables.
Adhering to Regulations
Follow food safety and hygiene standards (e.g., proper handling of food and drinks).
Verify IDs and ensure responsible alcohol service in bars or restaurants serving liquor.
