Position Overview:
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Financial Analyst to join our team. This role is
pivotal in driving strategic decision-making by providing comprehensive financial analysis,
forecasting, and actionable insights. The ideal candidate will bring a high competence in
Excel/Google Sheets and a baseline understanding of accrual accounting and forecasting
methodology.
Key Responsibilities:
● Financial Model Creation: Utilize Google Sheets/Excel to create models for new clients
using internally-developed templates
○ Set up universally applicable forecasts:
■ Operating/fixed expenses based on historical information
■ Amortization schedules based on existing loan documents
■ Working capital based on historical ratios
○ Set up client-specific forecasts
■ Gain an understanding of the clients business model and revenue
streams
■ Understand the underlying drivers of revenue and the availability of that
data
■ Work with Senior Analyst or Technical Lead to develop revenue, COGs,
and variable expense forecasts
● Financial Model Maintenance & Review: Monthly, update assigned client financial
models with the previous month's actuals, after accounting close
○ Review models for errors in mapping, calculation/reference errors, and other
spreadsheet errors
○ Perform initial review of actuals vs forecast and compile a report of:
■ Identified material fluctuations and their causes
■ Developing trends (e.g. decreasing gross margins)
■ Suggested model improvements/changes (e.g. expenses that need to be
added to the budget; changes that need to be made to revenue models)
○ Integrate any new client info received from the Senior Analyst/Strategic Finance
Lead
● Creation & Updating of Ad-Hoc Analyses
From internally developed templates/examples from other clients, implement
non-model analyses for select clients, including customer retention analysis and
customer profitability analysis
Monthly, updated analyses
● Client Documentation: Maintain ongoing, centralized documentation of client
information, including current financial status (summarized by KPIs), upcoming key
changes, the status of a financial model, and other analyses. Documentation should be
clear and concise enough to be easily handed over to another financial analyst
Qualifications:
● Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
● 2-3+ years of experience in financial analysis or financial reporting
○ Experience in accounting is a plus
● Strong-expert-level proficiency with Google Sheets/Excel
● Experience with QBO and some knowledge of databases & database language is a plus
● Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex
financial concepts to diverse audiences.
