Utility Engineer & Operator

Job Title: Utility Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

1. Utility System Management:
• Design, install, and maintain utility systems.
• Monitor utility usage and ensure systems are optimized for efficiency.
• Develop and implement maintenance schedules for utility infrastructure.
2. Troubleshooting & Problem Resolution:
• Respond to utility-related issues, diagnosing problems and implementing corrective actions.
• Conduct root cause analysis to identify and address recurring utility issues.
3. Compliance & Safety:
• Ensure all utility systems comply with environmental, safety, and regulatory standards.
• Maintain records of inspections, repairs, and modifications to utility systems.
• Monitor and report on utility performance to ensure adherence to relevant legislation and internal policies.
4. Energy Efficiency & Sustainability:
• Promote energy conservation and implement strategies to reduce waste.
• Explore and recommend renewable energy solutions or alternative utilities.
5. Collaboration:
• Work closely with other engineers, contractors, and external service providers to maintain and upgrade utility systems.
• Provide technical support and guidance to teams working with utility infrastructure.
6. Planning & Development:
• Participate in the planning, design, and execution of utility projects, such as new installations, upgrades, and expansions.
• Assess and analyse utility demand and recommend upgrades or improvements based on current and future needs.
7. Budgeting & Cost Management:
• Assist with budgeting for utility-related projects and operational expenses.
• Control costs associated with utility operations, repairs, and upgrades.
8. Documentation & Reporting:
• Keep detailed records of utility usage, costs, and maintenance activities.
• Prepare reports for management, highlighting issues, improvements, and potential areas for cost-saving.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• Professional certifications (e.g., Licensed Professional Engineer, LEED certification) are a plus.
• Knowledge of utility systems, engineering principles, and regulatory requirements.
• Proficiency in utility design software and analytical tools.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.

Experience:

• Experience in utility system management, engineering, or a related field.
• Prior experience with utility infrastructure is beneficial.

Skills:

• Strong knowledge of utility systems.
