E Commerce Analyst

Summary:

Fastenal is seeking a highly motivated and experienced eCommerce Analyst to support the setup, implementation, and ongoing management of our user analytics and data visualization infrastructure. This role is critical in enabling data-driven decision-making across our global e-commerce operations.

Role Overview:

As the eCommerce Analyst, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining a robust and scalable user analytics ecosystem. This includes establishing comprehensive user logging and measurement frameworks and building insightful dashboards for data visualization. You will work with a variety of leading analytics platforms and data infrastructure technologies and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Product, Engineering, Business and Marketing. You will be instrumental in empowering our teams to understand user behavior, identify opportunities for optimization, and drive business growth.

Responsibilities:

• User Logging & Measurement: Design and implement robust user logging and event tracking frameworks across our digital platforms (Web, iOS, Android), ensuring accurate and consistent data collection.
• Analytics Platform Implementation: Lead the setup, configuration, and integration of various analytics platforms including Google Analytics, Amplitude, Metabase, Mixpanel, Adobe Analytics, and others.
• Data Visualization & Dashboarding: Develop interactive and insightful dashboards and reports using tools like Google Looker Studio, Grafana, PowerBI, Superset, and others to monitor key metrics, identify trends, and communicate insights to stakeholders.
• Cross-Platform Analytics: Ensure consistent and unified user measurement across website, iOS, and Android applications, considering user identity and cross-device tracking.
• Data Quality & Governance: Implement and enforce data quality standards and governance policies to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and consistency of analytics data.
• Collaboration & Communication: Partner closely with Product, Business, Engineering, Marketing, and other teams to understand data needs, provide analytics support, and communicate findings effectively.
• Tool Evaluation & Research: Stay up to date with the latest trends and technologies (Enterprise and Open Source) in user analytics, data pipelines, and data visualization, and recommend new tools and approaches as needed.
• International Considerations: Understand and implement best practices for data collection and privacy in various international regions (US, Canada, Europe, China).

Required Skills:

• Extensive experience (5+ years) in a user analytics or data engineering role within a large-scale digital environment (preferably e-commerce).
• Deep understanding of user analytics principles and methodologies.
• Hands-on experience with multiple analytics platforms such as Google Analytics, Amplitude, Mixpanel, Adobe Analytics, Metabase, Hotjar, etc.
• Strong proficiency in designing and implementing custom event tracking and user properties.
• Experience working with cloud-based data lakes such as Microsoft Azure, Google BigQuery, or Databricks.
• Proficiency in data visualization and dashboarding tools like Google Looker Studio , Grafana, PowerBI, Superset, or similar.
• Strong SQL skills for data querying and manipulation.
• Understanding of data privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA, etc.) and their implications for user analytics.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with diverse teams and present complex data insights.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven mindset.
• Experience with mobile app analytics (iOS and Android) and relevant SDK integrations.

Qualifications (Preferred):

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with scripting languages like Python & R for data manipulation and automation.
• Experience with A/B testing platforms and methodologies.
• Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and practices.
• Experience working in an agile development environment.
