Facility Manager

Job Overview: The Facility Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of [companys] facilities. This includes ensuring the maintenance of building systems, managing facility-related projects, and ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations. The role demands a proactive approach to facility maintenance, budgeting, and vendor management. With 5-7 years of experience, the Facility Manager will lead a team, coordinate with various departments, and ensure that the facility operates efficiently and within budgetary constraints.

Key Responsibilities:

• Facility Operations Management: Oversee the efficient functioning of all aspects of building management, including HVAC, electrical systems, plumbing, elevators, and building security.
• Maintenance Oversight: Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for all systems and equipment. Respond to facility-related issues and ensure timely resolution.
• Vendor and Contractor Management: Source, negotiate contracts, and manage relationships with external vendors, contractors, and service providers to ensure timely and cost-effective service delivery.
• Budget Management: Create and manage budgets for facility operations, maintenance, and capital improvement projects. Track expenses and ensure adherence to the budget.
• Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure that the facility meets all regulatory compliance standards related to health, safety, and environmental practices. Perform risk assessments and safety audits to minimize risks.
• Space Management and Planning: Oversee the allocation and management of space within the facility, ensuring efficient use and supporting business needs.
• Team Leadership: Supervise and lead a team of maintenance staff and facility support staff. Provide training, performance evaluations, and mentoring.
• Sustainability and Energy Efficiency: Implement and oversee energy-saving initiatives and sustainability programs to minimize operational costs and environmental impact.
• Emergency Response and Crisis Management: Lead emergency response planning and ensure that all team members are trained in emergency protocols and procedures.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Experience: 5-7 years of relevant experience in facility management, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
• Skills:
• Strong understanding of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and security.
• Excellent project management and organizational skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for dealing with vendors, contractors, and employees.
• Proficient in facility management software and general office software (Excel, Word, etc.).
• Knowledge of relevant local, state, and federal safety regulations.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects under tight deadlines.

Preferred:

• Certification from the International Facility Management Association (IFMA) or similar professional organizations.
• Experience in managing large or complex facilities or portfolios.

Work Environment:
