Collection Analyst

Role: Collections Subject Matter Expert (SME)

We are seeking a highly skilled Collections Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support our analytics, strategy, and portfolio optimization initiatives. This role involves leveraging advanced data analysis and modeling techniques to enhance collections strategies and improve portfolio performance. The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise with a strong understanding of collections operations to deliver actionable insights and data-driven solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analytics & Insights:
• Analyze portfolio performance trends and develop actionable insights to optimize collections strategies.
• Conduct in-depth analysis using SAS and Python to identify key drivers of portfolio outcomes, delinquency trends, and recovery effectiveness.
• Strategy Development:
• Design and refine collections strategies tailored to different customer segments, risk profiles, and behavioral patterns.
• Evaluate the impact of existing strategies and recommend improvements for enhanced efficiency and effectiveness.
• Data Modeling:
• Build predictive models for segmentation, delinquency prediction, and recovery propensity.
• Develop and validate statistical models to improve targeting and resource allocation in collections operations.
• Portfolio Optimization:
• Monitor and report on portfolio performance metrics, including key indicators like roll rates, recovery rates, and cure rates.
• Identify opportunities for improving portfolio performance through advanced analytics and data-driven decision-making.
• Stakeholder Collaboration:
• Collaborate with business, technology, and operations teams to implement and monitor recommended strategies.
• Present analytical findings and strategic recommendations to senior stakeholders, including actionable roadmaps.

Required Skills & Expertise:

• Technical Skills:
• Proficiency in SAS and Python for advanced data analysis and statistical modeling.
• Hands-on experience with SQL and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is a plus.
• Collections Domain Expertise:
• Strong understanding of collections processes, including early and late-stage collections, recoveries, and portfolio segmentation.
• Familiarity with collections tools and platforms (e.g., Debt Manager, Tallyman) is preferred.
• Analytical Acumen:
• Advanced knowledge of predictive modeling techniques, segmentation strategies, and portfolio analytics.
• Ability to work with large datasets and extract meaningful insights to inform strategy development.
• Problem-Solving & Communication:
• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex analytical findings into clear and actionable recommendations.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with experience delivering insights to senior leadership.

Candidate Profile:

• Educational Background: Bachelors/Masters degree in Analytics, Data Science, Economics, Statistics, Engineering, or a related field.
• Professional Experience: At least 8 years of experience in collections analytics, portfolio management, or collections strategy within a financial institution or consulting firm.
