Manager - Legal

Job Summary:

The Manager - Legal is responsible for providing comprehensive legal support across the company, ensuring compliance with all relevant legal frameworks, and managing the companys legal risks. This role involves overseeing legal affairs, including contract management, regulatory compliance, and litigation management.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Legal Advisory:

• Provide expert legal advice and guidance to the companys management and various departments on a broad range of legal issues, including corporate law, labor law, environmental regulations, and commercial agreements.
• Act as the primary point of contact for all legal matters, ensuring that the company’s operations align with all applicable legal and regulatory requirements.

2. Contract Management:

• Oversee the drafting, negotiation, and execution of contracts, ensuring that all agreements protect the company’s interests and comply with legal requirements.
• Maintain a comprehensive contract management system to track contract performance, renewal dates, and compliance with contractual obligations.

3. Litigation Management:

• Manage all aspects of litigation involving the company, including coordinating with external counsel, preparing legal documents, and representing the company in court or arbitration proceedings.
• Develop and implement strategies to minimize legal risks and resolve disputes efficiently, while protecting the company’s reputation and financial interests.

4. Compliance and Risk Management:

• Ensure the company’s compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, including corporate governance, labor laws, data protection, and industry-specific regulations.
• Conduct regular legal audits to identify potential legal risks, recommend mitigation strategies, and ensure the company’s policies and practices are up-to-date.

5. Team Leadership:

• Lead and mentor the legal team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
• Develop training programs for the other employees on relevant legal issues, such as contract management, compliance, and corporate governance.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B.) required; Master’s degree in Law (LL.M.) or MBA preferred. Must be a licensed attorney in the relevant jurisdiction.
• Experience: 10+ years of experience in a legal role, with at least 5 years in a senior legal management position, preferably within a large corporation or law firm.
• Skills: Strong legal acumen, excellent negotiation and communication skills, and the ability to manage complex legal matters. Proficiency in contract management software and legal research tools is an asset.
