Job Description: Facility Manager (Manufacturing Company)
Position Title: Facility Manager
Department: Facilities/Operations
Reports To: Operations Manager / Plant Manager
Location: Bangalore
Job Summary: The Facility Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day management of the manufacturing plant's facilities and equipment to ensure smooth operations and a safe working environment. This role includes managing maintenance, repairs, space utilization, and compliance with health and safety regulations. The Facility Manager works closely with the maintenance team, production supervisors, and other departments to ensure the facility is optimized for manufacturing efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Facility Maintenance & Operations:
- Oversee the regular maintenance of manufacturing equipment, building systems, and infrastructure (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc.).
- Coordinate and manage preventive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and improve asset longevity.
- Supervise repair activities and troubleshooting of malfunctioning equipment or systems.
- Ensure the facility is compliant with company policies, safety standards, and local regulations.
2. Health & Safety Management:
- Enforce safety procedures and ensure all safety protocols are adhered to by staff and contractors.
- Conduct regular safety inspections, hazard assessments, and risk management strategies.
- Maintain records related to OSHA regulations, environmental compliance, and emergency response plans.
- Train staff on facility safety practices and proper use of equipment.
3. Budget & Cost Control:
- Develop and manage the facility's operating budget, identifying cost-saving opportunities.
- Oversee purchasing and procurement of facility-related materials, parts, and services.
- Analyze and monitor facility costs and report to senior management on budget status.
4. Project Management:
- Lead and manage facility-related projects such as building renovations, expansions, or equipment upgrades.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet all operational requirements.
- Manage external contractors, ensuring quality and timely completion of work.
5. Space & Asset Management:
- Ensure efficient space utilization within the facility to support manufacturing operations.
- Maintain an accurate inventory of facility assets and ensure proper maintenance records.
- Plan and oversee facility layout changes to accommodate growth or efficiency improvements.
6. Vendor & Supplier Relations:
- Manage relationships with external vendors, service providers, and suppliers for facility-related services.
- Negotiate contracts and manage service agreements to ensure optimal service delivery.
7. Reporting & Documentation:
- Prepare and submit regular reports on facility performance, maintenance activities, and incident reports.
- Maintain up-to-date records of compliance, inspections, and work orders.
Skills & Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Facility Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field (preferred).
Experience: Minimum of 5 years in facility management, maintenance management, or related roles, ideally in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc.), maintenance management software, and facility management best practices.
- Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Leadership: Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage a team and collaborate across departments.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with OSHA regulations, environmental standards, and building codes.
- Project Management: Experience in managing projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and vendor coordination.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time position with potential for on-call hours as needed.
- Primarily on-site at the manufacturing facility.
- Occasional lifting, standing, and walking may be required.
- Exposure to manufacturing environments and operational hazards.
