About the Role:

As a Research Assistant in Customs and Allied Laws, you will play a crucial role in supporting the development of new products, regulatory licenses, registrations, approvals, and legal research. You will collaborate closely with the Management/Founders, as well as marketing, sales, and regulatory teams, to provide insights and information that shape our product strategies and support market growth.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Support New Product Development :
   

   • Assist the founder and management in researching and analyzing regulatory requirements and market trends for new regulatory licenses, registrations, approvals and other legal research etc.
     

   • Compile comprehensive reports detailing market share, compliance challenges, and competitor analysis.
     

     1. Market and Competition Research :
        

        • Conduct thorough research to understand industry trends, market size, growth potential, and emerging competitors.
          

        • Analyse global vs. local market demands and how regulatory needs differ across regions in India.
          

          1. Compliance and Regulatory Monitoring :
             

             • Stay updated on international and Indian trade regulations, especially around import/export laws, ensuring compliance with regional requirements.
               

             • Identify relevant regulatory bodies, permissions, and the processes for obtaining licenses.
               

               1. RTI for Data Gathering :
                  

                  • File RTI applications to gather official data on licenses granted, active businesses, and non-compliance penalties.
                    

                    1. Sales Support :
                       

                       • Respond to client queries, ensuring accurate and relevant information.
                         

                       • Document all Frequently Asked Queries (FAQs) asked during Sales Discovery and Operational activities.
                         

                       • Assist the sales team by providing and updating marketing materials for Customer Satisfaction.
                         

                         1. Stakeholder Engagement :
                            

                            • Comfortably engage with stakeholders across various government departments and customs house agents (CHAs) involved in customs and regulatory processes to seek information on real-time basis.
                              

                              1. Networking & Expert Consultations :
                                 

                                 • Conduct interviews or consultations with legal experts and regulatory officers.
                                   

                                 • Participate in industry forums or webinars to stay updated on compliance developments.
                                   

                                   1. Challenges in the Sector :
                                      

                                      • Analyze operational barriers and legal challenges companies face when entering the market.
                                        

                                      • Assess potential delays in obtaining approvals and fines for late submissions of regulatory and compliance filings.
                                        

                                        1. Key Legal Documentation :
                                           

                                           • Compile relevant laws, guidelines, and policies related to each existing or newly introduced services/offerings and track recent amendments that could impact compliance.
                                             

                                             Academic Qualification:
                                             

                                             1. Bachelordegree in any field is acceptable, with a preference for degrees in:
                                                

                                                • International Business
                                                  

                                                • Supply Chain Management
                                                  

                                                • Law
                                                  

                                                • Business Administration
                                                  

                                                  1. Short-term certification course or Diploma in customs regulations, logistics, and market analysis from Export-Import Institutes.
                                                     

                                                  2. Knowledge of import-export customs regulations, particularly for regions such as India, the EU, Middle East, and Asia-Pacific, is beneficial.

                                                     • Technical Proficiency : Skilled in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and comfortable using technology for research and data analysis.
                                                       

                                                     • Analytical and Research Skills : Ability to perform secondary and primary market research, with skills in data interpretation and generating actionable insights to build new product / service.
                                                       

                                                     • Presentation Skills : Competent in creating and delivering presentations that convey complex information clearly.
                                                       

                                                     • Communication Skills : Strong written and verbal communication, able to interact effectively with cross-functional teams and clients.
                                                       

                                                     • Proactive and Independent : Self-driven, adaptable, and willing to learn continuously to keep up with evolving industry trends.
