Position Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Research Analyst - Agri and Rural to strengthen and expand our research coverage in the agriculture sector. The ideal candidate should possess strong analytical and research skills, with a deep understanding of farmer profitability, crop dynamics, agricultural inputs, and market trends at both a Pan-India and regional level.
This role will involve conducting in-depth research on key crops, understanding structural and dynamic aspects of the agriculture sector, and developing customized research solutions for clients based on their specific problem statements. The candidate should be comfortable engaging with multiple stakeholders across the agricultural value chain, including farmers, agribusiness companies, policymakers, and financial institutions.
Additionally, the ideal candidate should have an entrepreneurial mindset, with the ability to drive new research products and solutions within the agriculture domain. Prior experience in sales or product development in agriculture input sectors such as pesticides, seeds, and fertilizers will be considered a strong advantage.
Key Responsibilities
1. Research and Analysis on the Agriculture Sector:
- Expand and enhance existing research coverage related to farmer profitability, crop economics, agricultural trends, and agribusiness dynamics at both Pan-India and regional levels.
- Conduct primary and secondary research on agricultural markets, production trends, supply chain efficiency, government policies, and climate impact on farming.
- Analyze macro and microeconomic factors influencing the agriculture sector, including input costs, commodity pricing, yield trends, and sustainability challenges.
- Assess farmer profitability across different crops and regions, considering market price fluctuations, input cost variations, climatic risks, and policy interventions.
- Work on tailored research solutions by addressing specific problem statements raised by agricultural companies, industry stakeholders, and policymakers.
2. Data Collection, Report Writing & Presentation Development:
- Perform detailed data-driven analysis, using both qualitative and quantitative research methods to extract meaningful insights.
- Develop high-quality reports, whitepapers, industry presentations, and thought leadership content based on agricultural research findings.
- Present key insights and recommendations to clients, senior leadership, and external stakeholders in a structured and compelling manner.
- Utilize advanced research methodologies, including economic modeling, market forecasting, and competitor benchmarking to provide well-rounded insights.
- Ensure research reports are accurate, data-driven, and aligned with client expectations, while maintaining industry best practices in research and analysis.
3. Stakeholder and Client Engagement:
- Engage with domestic and international clients, providing strategic insights and advisory services on agriculture and rural markets.
- Collaborate with government bodies, agribusiness firms, research institutions, and financial organizations to develop actionable recommendations for agricultural development.
- Act as a trusted advisor for corporate clients, policymakers, and agri-tech startups, helping them make informed decisions on investments, business strategies, and policy frameworks.
- Establish strong working relationships with farmers, input suppliers, agronomists, distributors, and market experts to gain real-time insights into agricultural practices, challenges, and opportunities.
- Represent the organization at industry conferences, webinars, and panel discussions, showcasing thought leadership and expertise in agriculture and rural research.
4. Driving New Research Initiatives and Product Development:
- Take a proactive and entrepreneurial approach to identifying new research opportunities and developing innovative products in the agriculture research domain.
- Collaborate with internal teams to design market intelligence tools, farmer advisory platforms, and business intelligence reports that provide added value to clients.
- Stay updated on emerging agricultural trends, technological advancements, and policy shifts, integrating new insights into research frameworks.
- Develop customized agriculture sector investment reports, risk assessment models, and policy briefs to support decision-making for businesses and government agencies.
- Drive innovation in research methodologies, leveraging AI, big data analytics, and geospatial technologies to improve the accuracy and effectiveness of research findings.
5. Sector Expertise - Agriculture Inputs and Farmer Behavior:
- Possess a deep understanding of farmer behavior, cropping patterns, agricultural supply chains, and rural market dynamics.
- Analyze seasonal crop trends, market demand, and production constraints to anticipate shifts in agriculture industry performance.
- Conduct field visits and farmer interactions to gather first-hand insights into farming challenges, technology adoption, and agri-input utilization.
- Provide expert analysis on the pesticides, seeds, and fertilizers industry, evaluating product innovations, regulatory changes, and industry competitiveness.
- Assess the impact of climate change, water availability, and soil health on agriculture productivity and sustainability.
