We are looking for an Electrical Lab Manager to lead test lab operations that support electrical new product innovations, cost-out, and product line support activities. This role will directly oversee Electrical laboratories’ operations and lead new test capabilities operationalization to drive business growth. Additionally, he/she will be responsible for all 3rd party lab accreditations.
Lead, mentor, coach & train a team of test engineers with diverse background / skill sets. Create skill matrix, development plans, training plans to up-skill / skill shifts in-line with test engineer’s future roles & aspirations. Ability to provide effective regular feedback to test team members. In charge of Electrical lab testing capabilities expansion based on new industry trends and internal/external customer requirements. Supports all New Product Innovation activities and align priorities within the laboratory operations and the certification team. Align certification objectives and testing priorities with the overall business objectives to ensure a strategy-focused workforce. Develop and drive business training initiatives with respect to product certifications. Develop & execute growth plans in-line with organizational strategies to support future business needs based on product line roadmaps by driving investment into Electrical laboratory operations. Ensure that Electrical laboratory is operating efficiently, meeting or beating the established goals for test stand utilization, On time delivery (OTD), First pass yield (FPY), Capex & Opex spends within Profit plan targets, Safe & Incident free work environment and maintain test schedule that prioritizes transparency to customers.
Required: BE / BTech / ME / MTech in Electrical / Electrical & Electronics from an accredited institution.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in validation of Electrical products, Test lab, Engineering functions. • Minimum 5 years of experience managing people & project teams.
• Experience with 3rd party certifications (UL/ CSA/ DEKRA/ Intertek). • Experience performing engineering tests, analyzing results, and reporting findings. • Thorough knowledge and ability to interpret UL, CSA, IEC, ANSI, NEMA, IEEE and other applicable standards for LV / MV electrical switchgear & switchgear assembly products is a must. • Experience in leading Thermal lab, High voltage lab (Dielectric & Impulse), Environment lab, Life / endurance lab (mechanical & electrical), Ingress Protection lab, EMI / EMC lab for electrical and Power electronics product testing is desired. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to effectively explain technical issues/concepts. • Methodical, creative technical problem-solving skills. • Understanding of product requirements and performance margins.
Special Skills: • Sound knowledge on Electrical Test Safety and 5S. • Must have experience about work instructions, process and procedures, test documentation and test reports as per ISO:17025 guideline. • Measurement of uncertainty, inter-lab comparison and Gauge R&R study. • Continuous Improvements using DMAIC tools, Kaizens. • Proficiency to use problem solving tools & perform 8D and CAPA. • Knowledge to work on PLM / ERP tools like SAP, Oracle etc. • Knowledge of LabView software, National Instruments (NI), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC’s) and Human Machine Interfaces (HMI’s) used for the control and automation of custom systems built as per application. • Knowledge in IoTs & Industry 4.0 would be a plus.
