Senior Engineer- BBS & Steel

Role & responsibilities:

• Bar Bending Schedule Preparation: Create and manage Bar Bending Schedules (BBS) for all reinforcement steel construction projects. Ensure schedules comply with design specifications, building codes, and project requirements.
• Material Takeoff & Estimation: Perform material takeoff for reinforcement bars, estimating the quantities, sizes, lengths, and bends of the reinforcement steel required for each part of the structure.
• Bar Detailing: Prepare detailed bar bending drawings that specify the type, shape, and size of bars required for each segment of the structure (columns, beams, slabs, foundations, etc.).
• Coordination with Design Team: Work closely with structural engineers, architects, and design teams to ensure that the BBS aligns with the overall structural design and that any revisions are reflected in the schedule.
• Quality Control: Ensure that the reinforcement is fabricated according to the specifications and quality standards outlined in the design drawings and bar bending schedules.
• Site Supervision Support: Coordinate with site engineers and contractors to ensure that the correct bars are delivered and placed in the correct positions on site. Resolve any issues related to the bending or placing of bars during construction.
• Material Management: Assist in managing inventory and stock of reinforcement steel, ensuring that the material is available in the required quantities and sizes as per the schedule.
• Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of all BBS documentation, revisions, and approvals. Prepare and submit regular reports on material usage and rebar requirements to project management.
• Cost Management: Monitor and control costs related to rebar usage, wastage, and transportation. Provide recommendations for reducing material wastage.
• Liaison: Coordinate with procurement teams, suppliers, and fabricators to ensure that materials are delivered on time and meet quality standards.
• Thorough checking of the drawings as received from the Architect / Structural Consultants.

Must-have Skills: Experience in hi-rise building, thorough knowledge in Reinforcement Steel Work (IS 456-2000, SP 34: 1987 & IS 1200). The candidate should be responsible for the entire R.I Steelwork which includes preparation and circulation of BBS, Weekly and Monthly Reconciliation Statements and sharing knowledge to minimize material wastages at the site. (Knowledge in Alu-form Shuttering is preferable).
