Job Description

Assistant General Manager (AGM) in a restaurant involves overseeing daily operations, ensuring high standards of customer service, managing staff, and contributing to the overall success of the establishment. Below is a general job description for this position:

Key Responsibilities:
Operational Management:

Assist the General Manager (GM) in overseeing all aspects of the restaurants operations.
Ensure smooth day-to-day functioning, including managing shifts, overseeing kitchen and front-of-house operations, and ensuring efficiency.
Ensure compliance with health and safety standards, food safety regulations, and sanitation requirements.
Staff Management:

Supervise, train, and motivate restaurant staff, including servers, hosts, cooks, and kitchen personnel.
Handle scheduling, payroll, and performance reviews.
Resolve conflicts and manage staff issues, ensuring a positive and productive work environment.
Customer Service:

Address customer concerns and complaints promptly and professionally to ensure satisfaction.
Ensure that service standards are maintained and customers receive an exceptional dining experience.
Oversee restaurant ambiance and cleanliness to ensure a welcoming environment for guests.
Financial Management:

Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning for the restaurant.
Monitor and control restaurant costs, including labor, food, and beverage costs.
Help with inventory management and ordering supplies as needed.
Marketing and Promotions:

Support marketing efforts and promotional activities to increase restaurant visibility and sales.
Implement customer loyalty programs and strategies to enhance repeat business.
Administrative Duties:

Assist with the development and enforcement of policies, procedures, and standards.
Generate reports for the GM related to sales, inventory, and customer feedback.
Coordinate with other departments (e.g., HR, marketing, etc.) as needed.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Previous experience in restaurant management, usually 2-3 years.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to multitask and work under pressure.
Knowledge of restaurant POS systems and basic financial management.
Customer-focused with a passion for providing exceptional service.
Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications:
A degree in hospitality management or a related field.
Experience in a specific type of restaurant (e.g., fine dining, fast casual).
An Assistant General Manager plays a critical role in maintaining high standards of service, managing day-to-day operations, and supporting the GM to achieve the restaurants goals.
