Corporate Bank Technology - Merchant Solutions Solution Architect

Role Description

The Merchant Solutions Technology group provides the Corporate Bank with a dedicated team that capitalizes on the rapidly evolving technology industry to provide our clients new products and innovation to meet their growing needs within an Agile FinTech-like setup. We deliver innovative products such as our Digital Payment Gateway (creating an API based solution allowing Marketplaces and Merchants to streamline their payment processing and settlement activities). As part of our team, you will be responsible for technical design, coding, automated unit testing and integration and will liaise with the Product Owner, Architects, Product Managers, software engineers/developers and testers regarding the development and implementation of product lines using various technologies.

As a Solution Architect you will be responsible for end-to-end delivery of entire engineering solutions to accomplish business goals.

Your key responsibilities

• Act as the Solution Architect for the Merchant Solutions Tribe fostering the collaboration among cross location teams by enabling a culture of innovation.
• Contribute to building a shared platform architecture and code base across Fintech Enablement applications allowing quicker time to market of new solutions.
• Use your full stack or backend Java experience for designing and developing new and existing applications within a cloud-based high availability and resilient architecture.
• Evaluate current toolsets and the tribe's business applications and explore ways to optimize, using reusable solutions or/and implement them new through technology or any other alternate means
• Ensure all procedures and supporting knowledge for our business applications are documented for reference and that all the members of the tribe are trained to handle any questions related to the portfolio
• Assist in the adoption of modern engineering practices, design principles, integration patterns and Agile methodology across the Merchant Solutions Tribe.
• Engage with the business sponsors and stakeholders across multiple business domains and geographies to implement requirements according to agreed timelines.
• Partner with DevOps/QA on continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) to ensure quality solutions are delivered to end users and provide Level 3 support when needed.

Your skills and experience

• Skilled in building productive networks to drive collaboration, re-use and knowledge sharing; you also effectively & constructively communicate complex messages in a clear and concise manner
• Prior experience with Java/Java-oriented frameworks (e.g., Spring Boot, Kotlin), preferably with near real time event-based systems (JMS/pub-sub, streaming) and especially related to infrastructure, networks, security (e.g. OAuth/OIDC) and data/analytics technology
• Significant prior experience in building Micro-services with REST APIs as well as strong knowledge of Relational Database (SQL/PL-SQL), NoSQL (document-oriented and column-based storage) as well as in protocols, formats (HTTPS, Websockets, SOAP, JSON, XML), up to date on modern architecture design patterns and enterprise integration patterns.
• Prior hands-on experience with architecting solutions in cloud-based environment using e.g. Kubernetes, Docker as well as in re-architecting and designing existing applications for the cloud ideally Google (GCP) as well as the ability to consider additional dimensions (e.g. Security, Financials, Risk, Time to Market) on top of the architecture drivers, in order to propose balanced and feasible architecture solutions.
• Passionate technologist with ability to deep dive into the code level with expert knowledge of the java ecosystem incl. infrastructure and ability to contribute code in POCs, MVPs or project reviews
• Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English; German language knowledge would be a plus.
