Deputy Manager - Thermal Management System

Job Summary
The Thermal Management Lead will oversee the design, development, and implementation of advanced thermal management systems for lithium-ion battery production. This role is critical to ensuring optimal performance, safety, and longevity of lithium-ion battery cells and packs by controlling and maintaining temperature conditions throughout the manufacturing process. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in thermal engineering, battery technology, and manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the development and optimization of thermal management systems for lithium-ion batteries, focusing on thermal performance, efficiency, and safety.
• Design and simulate thermal management solutions for battery packs and cells, including cooling, heating, and insulation strategies.
• Collaborate with R&D teams to integrate new thermal technologies into battery manufacturing processes.
• Oversee the installation, testing, and validation of thermal systems in battery production lines.
• Perform detailed thermal simulations, analysis, and testing to assess performance under various operational conditions.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams including engineering, product development, and quality assurance to ensure seamless integration of thermal management solutions.
• Conduct failure analysis of thermal management systems and implement corrective actions.
• Support the scaling up of thermal management solutions from prototype to mass production.
• Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies related to thermal management in battery systems and apply best practices to ensure competitiveness.
• Develop and maintain documentation related to thermal designs, simulations, testing protocols, and design changes.
• Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers and collaborate with external suppliers and partners for thermal management component sourcing.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in thermal management, preferably in lithium-ion battery systems or related industries (electric vehicles, energy storage, consumer electronics, etc.).
• Proficient in thermal simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS, COMSOL, MATLAB) and CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
• Solid understanding of battery technologies, including chemistry, design, and behavior under different thermal conditions.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex thermal challenges.
• Experience in designing and optimizing heat dissipation and cooling/heating systems for large-scale battery applications.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate in a cross-disciplinary team environment.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and a hands-on approach to implementation and troubleshooting.
