Job Description

Under general supervision, the Materials Planner determines the quantity and order date for materials needed to meet the master production schedule or independent customer demand. This role involves expediting purchase or production orders as appropriate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE):
    • Report any work-related injury, illness, incident, or hazard.
    • Comply with HSE standards, policies, procedures, and regulations.
    • Engage in HSE training.
  • Quality:
    • Follow applicable standard work, process documentation, and quality procedures.
    • Perform quality checks on material planning master data (lead time, order quantities, etc. ).
    • Work with Quality to disposition non-conforming material in a timely manner.
  • Delivery:
    • Initiate purchase and work orders to support the demand plan.
    • Participate in allocation calls with Sourcing Manager, supplier, and other Cummins entities.
    • Work with suppliers to reduce lead time and order quantities.
    • Collaborate with Supply Chain Planners to reposition excess inventory.
    • Provide accurate, timely updates on inventory availability and back order recovery plans.
    • Manage part change requests and ramp up/down activities.
    • Reconcile order boards for critical suppliers and parts.
    • Support the Deliver Supplier Improvement Process initiative.
    • Document, communicate, and follow-up on action items impacting plan execution.
    • Take ownership and accountability for delivery of supplier schedules.
  • Teamwork:
    • Communicate effectively within the assigned team and with all support teams.
    • Complete training and personal development in line with business requirements and career goals.
    • Participate in improvement projects (quality, safety, process, material flow, etc. ).

Skills:

  • Materials Planning System Utilization: Using the materials planning system to manage supply and demand plans, taking long-term corrective action on exception messages and other alerts based on root cause analysis.
  • Part Change Control Management: Evaluating and implementing engineering change requests to meet customer delivery requirements while minimizing excess and obsolete inventory.
  • Plan for Every Part (PFEP): Using PFEP principles to ensure delivery of the right part at the right time in the right quantity to the right place.
  • Master Supply Scheduling: Establishing and maintaining a valid Master Production Schedule for a family of products.
  • Materials KPI Management: Operating in relation to recent or historical outputs to determine next steps to drive improvement.

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Stakeholder management and effective communication skills.
  • Planning experience is a plus.
  • APAC Region (Hybrid Working Model)
  • 6:30 AM to 3:30 PM

Qualifications:

  • Education, Licenses, Certifications:
    • High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience.
    • This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
  • Experience:
    • Requires some work experience and intermediate level knowledge obtained through training or on-the-job experience.
