Crisil - Manager - Data Management Team (8-12 yrs)

About the Role:

- As a Metadata Manager in the Data Management team, you will play a pivotal role in driving metadata management and data catalog implementation. The Chief Data Office was established in 2024 and tasked with managing data as an asset in Crisil. This is a Team Management role.

- You will contribute to the implementation of- and improvement to- the Open metadata application, along with Catalog content growth and user adoption. Success is measured against continuous growth in Catalog content, improvement of features and services, and adoption by Crisil data users.

Responsibilities:

- The Metadata Manager is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining a data catalog that provides a single, unified view of an organization's data assets. This role involves working closely with data owners, data stewards, business users, and IT teams to ensure the data catalog is accurate, complete, and easily accessible.

- Design and implement a data catalog that meets the organization's data management and analytics needs.

- Manage the inventory of data assets, including data sources, data sets, and data elements.

- Oversee the creation, maintenance, and governance of metadata, including data descriptions, data definitions, and data lineage.

- Facilitate the adoption of the data catalog by conducting training sessions and creating user guides for stakeholders across various departments.

- Work with data governance teams to align data cataloging and metadata management practices with overall data

governance frameworks and policies.

- Manage data access and security controls to ensure authorized access to data assets.

- Develop reports and analytics to measure data catalog usage, data quality, and data asset performance.

- Identify opportunities to improve data catalog processes and implement changes as needed

Key Skills and Attributes:

- Have a deep curiosity and a keen passion for data

- Have the ability to build effective relationships across the organization and influence stakeholders to action

- In-depth understanding of data cataloging and metadata management.

- Strong technical proficiency with data cataloging tools and platforms, as well as experience with database

technologies, SQL, and data modeling.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of explaining complex data concepts in simple terms.

- Experience in training and mentoring team members on data catalog and metadata management practices.

- A proactive approach to identifying and resolving data management challenges.

Education / Experience:

- Minimum of 8 years of experience in data management roles,

- Preferably 3-5 years focused on data cataloging, metadata management. Example: Collibra, Alation, Informatica Axon / EDC, AbInitio, Open metadata etc.

- Experience with leading data catalog and metadata management platforms and tools.

- Familiarity with industry standards and best practices in data management.
