Roles and Responsibilities

The Controllership Manager performs a wide range of duties that may include, but are not limited to:

• Planning, directing and coordinating all accounting operational functions
• Managing the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results
• Provides status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data.
• Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
• Providing management with information vital to the decision-making process
• Coordinating and preparing internal and external financial statements, including working with external auditors for internal, external and SOX audits
• Managing the budget process - Prepares budgets by establishing schedules; collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data; recommending plans.
• Achieves budget objectives by scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
• Assessing current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement and implementing new processes
• Evaluating accounting and internal control systems
• Evaluating the effectiveness of accounting software and supporting database, as needed
• Overseeing regulatory reporting, frequently including tax planning and compliance
• Maximizes return on financial assets by establishing financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems.
• Guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures.
• Complies with statutory and legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, anticipating future legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, filing financial reports, and advising management on needed actions.
• Ensures operation of equipment by establishing preventive maintenance requirements and service contracts, maintaining equipment inventories, and evaluating new equipment and techniques.
• Maintains financial staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees including coaching, counselling, monitoring and appraising job results.

SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES: The more common skills and attributes that are needed for this role may include:

• Minimum of 10 years of relevant accounting and audit experience
• Significant analytical skillset, including the utilisation of BI and reporting tools
• Excellent communication skills with ability to build relationships
• Strong influencing and interpersonal skills
• High level of commercial acumen
• Advanced computer software skills, including writing macros in Excel and other accounting packages
• Professional qualification such as CA or CPA or CFA
• Experience in working with multiple legal entities under different legal umbrellas
• Experience with financial reporting requirements
