Jr. Plant Operators (Sulphuric Acid & Phosphoric Acid)

The Sulphuric Acid/Phosphoric Acid Plant Operator is responsible for operating and monitoring the equipment and processes involved in the production of sulfuric acid. This role involves ensuring efficient and safe operations in the plant, adhering to environmental regulations, troubleshooting plant equipment, and conducting routine inspections to ensure all machinery is running smoothly. The operator plays a key role in maintaining the quality of the product while ensuring safety, environmental, and operational standards are met.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate and Monitor Equipment: Safely operate and monitor sulfuric acid/phosphoric acid production equipment, including reactors, pumps, compressors, and conveyors.
• Process Control: Control and adjust plant process parameters such as temperature, pressure, flow rates, and chemical concentrations to maintain optimal production conditions.
• Routine Inspections: Perform regular inspections and routine maintenance on equipment to detect malfunctions, leaks, and wear.
• Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve process issues, equipment malfunctions, and system failures promptly to minimize downtime and prevent accidents.
• Safety Compliance: Follow all plant safety protocols, including proper handling of chemicals and safety equipment. Report unsafe conditions or incidents immediately.
• Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of production data, including operating conditions, chemical analysis, and maintenance logs. Document any abnormalities or corrective actions taken.
• Environmental Regulations: Ensure compliance with environmental laws and regulations, monitoring emissions and effluents, and taking appropriate action to minimize environmental impact.
• Team Collaboration: Work with other plant personnel, including maintenance crews, engineers, and supervisors, to ensure smooth operations and address any plant-related issues.
• Continuous Improvement: Assist in identifying opportunities for process optimization and contribute to improving plant efficiency, reducing waste, and increasing safety.
• Emergency Response: Act as a first responder in emergency situations, such as chemical spills, equipment failure, or hazardous material releases, following the proper emergency response protocols.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Education: Diploma or equivalent associate's degree in chemical engineering, industrial technology, or related field preferred.
• Experience: Minimum 0-3 years of experience as a plant operator, preferably in a chemical manufacturing or sulfuric acid/phosphoric acid plant.
• Technical Skills: Knowledge of chemical processes, sulfuric acid production, phosphoric acid production and plant equipment. Basic understanding of control systems and instrumentation.
• Safety Awareness: Knowledge of safety regulations and emergency response procedures in industrial environments.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including lifting, climbing, and standing for extended periods.
• Attention to Detail: Strong ability to monitor systems and identify discrepancies or issues in production or equipment performance.
• Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities to address production issues quickly and effectively.
• Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills to report on operations, safety concerns, and maintenance needs.

Working Conditions:

• The role requires working in an industrial plant environment with exposure to heat, noise, and potentially hazardous chemicals.
• Personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, goggles, face shields, and hearing protection must be worn at all times.
