Job Description: Commercial Director - Group Level
Position: Commercial & Contracts Director
Location: Muscat, Oman
- The ideal candidate will play a critical role in shaping the commercial strategy, driving profitability, managing risk, and ensuring the successful execution of high-value construction projects across multiple business units.
Key Responsibilities :
Strategic Leadership :
- Develop and implement the commercial strategy for the group, aligning with the overall business objectives.
- Provide commercial insights and recommendations to the Board of Directors and Group CEO to drive sustainable growth.
- Lead commercial negotiations, ensuring favourable terms for the company across all projects and contracts.
Contract Management and Risk Mitigation:
- Oversee the preparation, review, and negotiation of high-value contracts (e.g., EPC, FIDIC) to safeguard the company's interests.
- Manage and mitigate commercial risks across all business units and projects.
- Ensure all commercial operations comply with legal, regulatory, and corporate governance standards.
Financial and Budget Management:
- Monitor and analyze the group's project budgets, cash flows, and financial performance.
- Ensure profitability by optimizing commercial terms and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
- Collaborate with finance teams to prepare accurate forecasts and reports.
Stakeholder Management:
- Build relationships with key clients, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Act as a primary point of contact for major commercial discussions with external stakeholders.
- Represent the company in high-level negotiations and industry forums.
Team Leadership:
- Lead and mentor the commercial team across various business units, ensuring alignment with group objectives.
- Drive a culture of accountability, performance, and continuous improvement within the commercial department.
- Provide guidance and training to enhance the commercial acumen of teams across the organization.
Operational Excellence:
- Standardize commercial processes and best practices across all projects and divisions.
- Monitor project execution to ensure adherence to commercial and contractual commitments.
- Leverage technology and analytics to improve decision-making and operational efficiency.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Business Administration, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- 15+ years of experience in commercial management within the construction industry, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Proven experience managing high-value projects and complex contracts.
- Strong understanding of construction project delivery models, including EPC, FIDIC, and design-build.
- Expertise in risk management, cost control, and financial analysis.
- Exceptional negotiation, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience working at a group level in a large organization is highly desirable.
