Job Description:
Sourcing & Contract Management:
- Devise and use fruitful sourcing strategies.
- Discover profitable suppliers and initiate business and organization partnerships.
- Negotiate with external vendors to secure advantageous terms.
- Examine and test existing contracts.
- Compare proposals for price and specifications.
- Review contract specifications on behalf of the company.
- Communicate with vendors to ensure that the product arrives in a timely fashion.
Relationship Management:
- Managing the tendering process.
- Selecting, or having input into the selection of, specialist subcontractors or other organizations that will help complete the project work.
- Advising on the selection of materials used and other aspects of procurement.
- Managing processes relating to the project's design to ensure that everything is delivered to schedule and budget, working very closely with estimators, quantity surveyors, site managers and other key members of the project team.
- Reviewing and advising on designs, ensuring they meet regulatory and legislative requirements and the client's brief.
- Conducting financial, technical, and operational risk assessments and advising on risks, opportunities, and potential hazards.
- Keeping up to date with relevant regulations, codes, and legislation.
Purchase Management:
- Approve the ordering of necessary goods and services.
- Finalize purchase details of orders and deliveries.
Performance & Data Management:
- Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness.
- Collaborate with key persons to ensure clarity of the specifications and expectations of the company.
- Foresee alterations in the comparative negotiating ability of suppliers and clients.
- Expect unfavorable events through analysis of data and prepare control strategies.
- Perform risk management for supply contracts and agreements.
- Control spend and build a culture of long-term saving on procurement costs.
- Manage technological systems that track the shipment, inventory and supply of materials.
- Lead transformational activities to build procurement organizational capabilities and improve procurement efficiency.
- Ensure adherence to all safety, health, and environmental rules and regulations.
People Management:
- Coach, mentor and develop direct reports and manage a high performing team that delivers continuous improvement, added value and cost reductions.
- Set department objectives and monitor ongoing progress and performance.
- Ensure strong communication between teams under leadership to facilitate exchange of information and to implement change and improvements.
- Provide leadership, coordination, and coaching to the team, ensuring they are trained enabling them to achieve the operational and financial metrics within their areas of responsibility and succeed in their roles.
- Complete regular performance reviews, manage attendance, holidays, disciplinary issues, and procedures as appropriate.
