Barista Lead

Job Overview: The Beverage Lead - Assistant Manager will oversee the daily operations of the beverage department, ensuring high-quality service, smooth operations, and optimal staff performance. The role requires leadership skills, a deep understanding of beverage offerings (coffee ), inventory management, and a strong focus on customer experience. The position supports the Beverage Manager in maintaining and exceeding operational goals, customer service standards, and profitability.

Key Responsibilities:

Beverage Operations Management:

• Assist the Beverage Manager in overseeing the entire beverage operation, ensuring efficiency, quality, and consistency.
• Ensure that all beverages (Coffee) are prepared, presented, and served according to company standards.
• Monitor beverage stock levels, rotating inventory, and ordering supplies as needed to prevent shortages and ensure availability.
• Maintain a clean and organized barista area, ensuring all beverage-related equipment is in good working condition.
• Oversee the setup, stocking, and maintenance of barista areas during shifts.

Staff Leadership & Training:

• Supervise, train, and develop a team of barista and beverage staff to maintain high service standards.
• Provide ongoing training on beverage preparation, responsible coffee service, and customer service techniques.
• Ensure staff members are knowledgeable about the beverage menu and able to make recommendations to guests.
• Handle staff scheduling, ensuring proper coverage during peak hours and special events.

Customer Service & Experience:

• Ensure an exceptional guest experience by supervising beverage service, maintaining a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
• Address customer inquiries, complaints, and special requests in a timely and professional manner.
• Promote upselling techniques to enhance the guest experience and increase beverage sales.
• Collaborate with the management team to address guest feedback and implement improvements.

Inventory & Stock Control:

• Monitor beverage inventory levels, track usage, and assist in ordering to prevent stockouts or excess inventory.
• Conduct regular stock audits and ensure that all items are stored and rotated according to the FIFO (First In, First Out) method.
• Keep detailed records of beverage sales, wastage, and usage for accurate reporting.
• Assist in managing beverage budgets and controlling costs to maximize profitability.

Compliance & Safety:

• Ensure all beverage service follows local and state regulations, including responsible coffee service and legal drinking age policies.
• Ensure the barista is compliant with health and safety standards, including cleanliness, safe storage of coffee, and proper handling of glassware.
• Promote and enforce responsible coffee consumption among guests and staff.

Special Events & Promotions:

• Assist in planning and executing beverage-related promotions, special events, and seasonal offerings.
• Help design and implement new Coffee menus or seasonal specials to keep offerings fresh and engaging for customers.
• Collaborate with marketing and events teams to promote beverage programs and increase customer engagement.

Reporting & Administrative Tasks:

• Assist in preparing and maintaining reports for beverage sales, inventory, and labor costs.
• Track and report on beverage trends, guest preferences, and competitor offerings.
• Support the Beverage Manager in budgeting and forecasting for the department.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in hospitality or beverage management is a plus.
