Support Engineer(education ERP)

Roles and Responsibilities

We are looking for a detail-oriented and highly skilled Support Engineer with strong knowledge of Education ERP systems, Advanced Excel, and MySQL. The role involves providing technical support, managing database-related tasks, and ensuring the smooth functioning of ERP platforms used in educational institutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate complex technical issues to non-technical users.

Key Responsibilities:

1. ERP Support
   
• Provide first-level technical support for users of the Education ERP system, assisting with issues related to system functionality, data access, and configuration.
• Resolve issues related to user accounts, permissions, workflows, and system errors in a timely manner.
• Collaborate with the development team to escalate complex issues and ensure resolution.
2. Database Management and Querying (MySQL):
   
• Manage and maintain MySQL databases associated with the ERP system.
• Perform data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) tasks to support reports and data analysis.
• Write and optimize SQL queries for troubleshooting, data retrieval, and reports.
• Perform data validation and integrity checks to ensure consistent and accurate data across the system.
• Assist with database migrations and updates as part of system upgrades or enhancements.
3. Advanced Excel and Reporting:
   
• Use Advanced Excel functions (e.g., VLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, pivot tables, macros) to create reports, perform data analysis, and assist with data management tasks.
• Support end-users with Excel-based reporting templates, data exports, and analysis.
• Develop and automate reports using Excel to track system performance, issues, and user activity.
• Provide training and guidance to users on utilizing Excel for reporting and data management.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 1+ years of experience in a Support Engineer or Technical Support role, particularly in an Education ERP environment.
• Strong proficiency in MySQL, including writing and optimizing complex queries, managing databases, and performing data operations.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the use of pivot tables, formulas, macros, and complex data analysis techniques.
• Strong understanding of Education ERP systems (e.g., Banner, PeopleSoft, Moodle, Blackboard, etc.).
• Familiarity with ERP modules such as student records, admissions, scheduling, and grading is a plus.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle complex technical issues.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical users effectively.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with cloud-based ERP systems (e.g., SaaS platforms).
• Knowledge of basic programming/scripting (e.g., Python, PHP) is a plus.
• Familiarity with data visualization tools like Power BI or Tableau.
• Certification in ERP tools or MySQL is a plus.
• Understanding of educational processes and workflows.
