Operations Manager Opening at CMA CGM

Role & responsibilities

• Operations Management:
  
• Support the creation of the CS India agency, coordinating with legal teams, local authorities, and the local team.
• Form the manning agency team post-agency launch, including recruitment, training, and operations staff.
• Oversee daily crewing operations, ensuring efficient and effective management of recruitment, selection, and placement of crew members.
• Validate crew planning according to manning allocations and anticipate any shortfalls, communicating them to the recruitment department.
• Ensure quality planning, especially for the top 5 officers, as per standard procedures.
• Develop contingency plans for crewing operations in emergencies.
• Ensure up-to-date and accurate crewing software data.
• Plan crew changes in cost-efficient ports.
• Ensure compliance with local and global circulars/advisories.
• Communication and Coordination:
  
• Maintain clear communication with CMA Ships Singapore, MHRD (Marine Human Resources Department), vessels, and other relevant parties.
• Act as the main point of contact for critical matters related to long-term planning and pool management.
• Keep the GM, CSS, and MHRD informed about exceptional or important cases.
• Facilitate and lead daily Crewing Department meetings.
• Management and Leadership:
  
• Lead the Crewing Department, ensuring the team understands job roles and expectations.
• Motivate and coach the Crewing team for optimal performance.
• Ensure services meet CMA Ships Singapore's expectations.
• Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement within the Crewing Department to enhance efficiency and service quality.
• Reporting and Compliance:
  
• Ensure seafarers documentation is compliant with industry standards and up-to-date in the crewing software.
• Monitor the performance status of crew members before proposing their next vessel assignments.
• Report issues requiring immediate attention to the CSS/MHRD.
• Brief and debrief seafarers before and after their assignments.
• Assist with investigations and follow-up reports on any breaches of discipline with seafarers.
• Ensure compliance with internal regulations

Preferred candidate profile

• Education: Higher education, preferably from a Merchant Marine University.
• Experience: Marine background (as per local requirement) with relevant experience in crewing operations.
• Skills: Ability to manage operations, lead teams, and communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels. Proven track record in crewing and recruitment operations.
