Job Description

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced individual to join our team as a Senior Software Engineer / Technical Manager in the Java space. In this role, you will be responsible for leading and executing complex software development projects, as well as providing design and technical guidance and expertise to the team. The successful candidate must be able to work independently on the design, development, and implementation of complex applications.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Understand and translate business and functional requests into program/applications
  • Participate on project teams and effectively interact with business partners, vendor partners, Business Analysts, Architects, Quality Assurance specialists, and management
  • Design, code, test and implement application program code for both new and existing applications
  • Develop and execute test scenarios and test cases for unit, integration and system testing
  • Ability to produce concise and accurate documentation for projects
  • Ensure compliance with all Chubb standards and guidelines
  • Adhere to project management methodology and standards
  • Research and evaluate alternative solutions and recommend the most efficient and cost effective solution for the systems design
  • Comply with architectural standards; re-use existing software structures where applicable
  • Take the lead on assignments and mentor/provide guidance to other staff members
  • Collaborate effectively across functional business and technical areas
  • Flexible and effective at multi-tasking
  • Participates in on-call production support of applications/platforms in multiple environments; escalates issues following procedures to minimize system downtime
  • Monitors the operational health and performance of production systems
  • Complies with all I/T policies, procedures and controls

    • Required Work Experience and Skills:

  • Desired Technical Skills: Java, RAD, DB2, MQ
  • Additional technical skills that are a plus: Websphere, Git, Jenkins, Selenium, micro services, Azure
  • Strong fundamental technical knowledge with the ability and drive to learn new concepts and business systems quickly and independently
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an attention to detail and the capability to drive tasks from start to completion
  • Strong debugging techniques; proven ability to troubleshoot and debug problems
  • Strong testing skills and focus on achieving quality deliverables
  • Pro-active in issue identification and problem resolution
  • Ability to effectively multi-task and prioritize workload
  • Strong organizational, communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work off-hours when needed
  • Education and Experience:Minimum of 10 years of experience in systems analysis and application program developmentBachelor degree in Computer Science or a related discipline
