Hsse Engineer

As an HSSE Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety, health, security, and environmental compliance at various Petroleum Retail Outlets (ROs). Your key responsibility will be to conduct regular preventive checks, handle breakdown maintenance, and promote safe operation practices.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Preventive Checks & Breakdown Maintenance:

• Conduct regular preventive safety checks at Petroleum Retail Outlets (ROs) to ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Perform breakdown maintenance and provide technical assistance to resolve safety-related issues at ROs.
• Inspect and evaluate the safety systems at the outlets, ensuring that all equipment and safety measures are functioning correctly.

2. Safety Practices & Compliance:

• Ensure adherence to all safety standards and regulatory requirements, including petroleum safety and environmental guidelines.
• Conduct safety audits and inspections at various ROs to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
• Regularly update safety protocols and practices to reflect the latest industry standards.

3. Safety Awareness & Training:

• Impart safe operation practices to the staff at the Retail Outlets, particularly to the DSMs (Daily Site Managers).
• Sensitize DSMs and other employees to petroleum safety and emergency response protocols.
• Conduct training sessions and safety drills to ensure all personnel are aware of proper safety practices and emergency procedures.
• Provide guidance on the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure it is consistently used at the outlets.

4. Communication & Reporting:

• Effectively communicate with site teams, supervisors, and management using email, WhatsApp, and other communication tools to report safety concerns, incidents, and corrective actions.
• Maintain and update records of all safety audits, inspections, and training activities.
• Submit regular reports on the status of safety initiatives, breakdown maintenance, and preventive checks to management.

5. Incident Management & Investigation:

• Respond promptly to any safety incidents or accidents at Retail Outlets.
• Lead investigations into safety incidents, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Prepare detailed incident reports and share findings with relevant stakeholders.

6. Regulatory & Legal Compliance:

• Stay updated on local, national, and international safety regulations and ensure compliance at all Petroleum Retail Outlets.
• Liaise with local authorities and regulatory bodies to ensure the outlets meet all necessary health, safety, and environmental standards.

7. Continuous Improvement:

• Continuously monitor safety performance and identify areas for improvement.
• Recommend and implement safety enhancements to improve overall operational safety at Retail Outlets.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Safety Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in health, safety, security, and environmental roles, preferably within the petroleum or retail industry.
• Skills:
• In-depth knowledge of safety practices, regulations, and compliance in the petroleum industry.
• Ability to work independently and travel extensively within the assigned region.
• Strong communication skills in both the local language and English (spoken and written).
• Proficient in using email, WhatsApp, and other communication platforms for effective reporting and coordination.
• Strong problem-solving and incident investigation skills.
• Ability to conduct safety training and raise awareness on safety standards.
