Cinematographer/Associate Cinematographer

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and creative Cinematographer (Director of Photography) to join our production team. The ideal candidate will have an exceptional eye for visual storytelling and be responsible for capturing the aesthetic look and feel of the project. You will collaborate closely with the director, producers, and other creatives to bring the visual narrative to life, ensuring that the final product meets both artistic and technical standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the visual aspects of production by designing, planning, and executing the cinematography and lighting setup. Ensure the mood, tone, and atmosphere align with the director’s vision and the project's goals.
• Oversee the camera department, operate cameras, or direct the camera team during filming, ensuring all shots are framed and captured in line with the script and director's vision.
• Plan and compose shots to support storytelling, using techniques such as framing, angles, depth of field, and movement. Coordinate with the director to ensure the visual style enhances the narrative.
• Work closely with the director to interpret the script and establish the visual language of the project, including the look, feel, and pacing of each scene.
• Design and manage the lighting for all scenes to create the desired effect, including determining lighting setups, color palettes, and shadow play that complement the overall aesthetic of the project.
• Select the appropriate cameras, lenses, and other filming equipment needed to achieve the desired visual effects. Ensure all technical requirements for shots are met.
• Lead and manage the camera department, including camera operators, assistants, and grips, ensuring that the team works efficiently and safely on set.
• Stay updated on emerging camera technologies, filming techniques, and visual trends. Implement best practices to achieve the highest production quality.
• Participate in pre-production meetings to discuss shot lists, storyboards, and logistical plans. Provide input on the selection of locations, sets, and props from a visual perspective.
• Work with the post-production team (editors, colorists) to ensure that the final footage reflects the intended visual style, including color grading and visual effects.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Film, Cinematography, Media Production, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience
• Proven experience with various camera systems (e.g., ARRI, RED, Canon, etc.), lenses, and lighting equipment.
• Proficient in the technical aspects of cinematography, including exposure, color temperature, and frame rates.
• Extensive knowledge of the production process, from pre-production planning to post-production.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with directors, producers, and crew members to bring the visual narrative to life.
• Experience with drone cinematography or other specialized camera techniques (e.g., Steadicam, gimbals, etc.).
