Key Responsibilities
Patent Management:
- Draft, file, and manage patent applications, conduct searches, and analyze prior art.
- Oversee patent filing, prosecution, and maintenance while liaising with inventors and patent offices.
Patent Prosecution:
- Handle patent objections, respond to office actions, and ensure compliance with deadlines.
IP Portfolio Management:
- Monitor and maintain patent portfolios; enforce patent rights and provide strategic advice.
Infringement and Enforcement:
- Track patent infringements, manage IP litigation, and conduct due diligence for M&As.
Licensing and Commercialization:
- Develop licensing strategies, negotiate agreements, and collaborate on IP commercialization.
IP Strategy and Policy Development:
- Align IP strategies with business goals; draft internal IP policies and educate stakeholders.
Research and Competitor Analysis:
- Stay updated on patent laws; analyze competitors' IP activities.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Science, Engineering, or Law.
Experience:
- 2-5 years in IP management, with a focus on patent prosecution and drafting.
- Hands-on experience with patent filings, office actions, and portfolio management.
Skills:
- Technical Expertise: Proficiency in technical fields and ability to translate concepts into patent language.
- Patent Law Knowledge: Familiarity with filing processes (PCT, EPC) and international IP systems.
- Attention to Detail: Precision in drafting and maintaining comprehensive descriptions.
- Communication Skills: Ability to interact with inventors, legal teams, and patent offices effectively.
- Negotiation and Analysis: Competence in licensing discussions and assessing IP value.
- Project Management: Efficient handling of multiple deadlines and filings.
