Job Summary:
The Chiller Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing chillers and cooling systems in plastic production facilities. This role ensures optimal performance of cooling equipment to support production processes, maintain product quality, and ensure efficient operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Installation and Setup:
Assist in the installation of new chiller systems, ensuring proper configuration and setup according to manufacturer specifications and industry standards.
Calibrate and adjust system controls and settings for optimal performance.
Maintenance:
Perform routine maintenance on chiller units, including cleaning condensers, evaporators, and inspecting components such as compressors and pumps.
Conduct regular checks of refrigerant levels and perform necessary refills in compliance with environmental regulations.
Troubleshooting and Repairs:
Diagnose and troubleshoot cooling system malfunctions, determining the root cause of issues.
Carry out repairs on malfunctioning equipment, replacing parts as necessary, and documenting all maintenance and repair activities.
System Monitoring:
Monitor chiller operation and performance parameters, adjusting settings to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Analyze operating data to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement.
Quality Control:
Ensure that chillers operate within specified temperature and pressure ranges to maintain the quality of plastic production.
Collaborate with production teams to address cooling needs and resolve any temperature-related concerns.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of maintenance performed, repairs, and parts replaced.
Prepare reports on system performance and maintenance needs for management review.
Safety and Compliance:
Follow all safety protocols and environmental regulations related to the operation of cooling systems and refrigerants.
Participate in safety meetings and training programs to promote safe working practices.
Collaboration:
Work closely with production and maintenance teams to minimize downtime and enhance operational efficiency.
Provide technical support and training to personnel on the proper operation of chillers.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; technical certificate in HVAC, refrigeration, or a related field preferred.
Previous experience in chiller maintenance and repair, preferably in a plastic manufacturing environment.
Strong knowledge of cooling systems, refrigeration cycles, and HVAC principles.
Proficiency in using hand tools and diagnostic equipment.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
