Position Summary:
The Linux Administrator is responsible for managing, maintaining, and improving Linux-based systems to ensure optimal performance, security, and reliability. This role involves troubleshooting issues, implementing updates, managing system resources, and collaborating with teams to support business-critical applications and infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
Install, configure, and maintain Linux operating systems (e.g., Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu, Debian).
Manage servers, virtual machines, and containerized environments.
Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure uptime and efficiency.
Apply patches, updates, and security measures to protect systems from vulnerabilities.
Configure firewalls, VPNs, and security tools to ensure secure data and system access.
Conduct regular security audits and compliance checks.
Configure and manage network services (DNS, DHCP, FTP, NFS, Samba, etc.).
Troubleshoot and resolve network connectivity issues.
Implement and maintain load balancers and failover systems.
Develop and maintain automation scripts using Bash, Python, or Ansible to streamline repetitive tasks.
Automate system monitoring, backups, and deployments.
Use monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus) to identify and resolve issues proactively.
Schedule and manage system backups and recovery procedures.
