Key Requirements & Responsibilities
• 8+ years of experience in SQL Database Administration Primarily SQL Database (Azure & On-Prem both).
• Design and create data models and schemas. Review the database schemas
• Install, provision, configure, and maintain SQL Server databases.
• Cost Management: Monitor, analyze, and optimize database expenses in cloud and on-premises environments.
• Perform regular database backups and implement disaster recovery procedures i.e. HA & DR implementations.
• Implement and maintain database security measures, including user access, roles (RBAC), and permissions.
• Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR) and security best practices such as data masking and encryptions.
• Performance Tuning: Analyze and optimize queries, indexing strategies, and database configurations to improve performance.
• Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, such as connectivity problems, data corruption, and failed jobs, deadlocks.
• Implement auditing, logging, and purging best practices.
• Collaborate with application developers to design, develop, and optimize database structures and queries.
• Familiarity with Azure Portal, Knowledge of deployment options, such as DTU-based and vCore-based models.
• Develop Azure Data Factory solutions and set up the Data integration pipelines.
• Automate routine tasks using PowerShell or Azure CLI.
• Monitor database performance, identify, and resolve performance issues, and optimize queries for efficiency.
• Deployment & Rollback: Manage schema changes, migrations, and rollback strategies during application releases.
• Incident Support: Provide on-call support (e.g., via PagerDuty) for critical incidents and database outages.
• Develop and maintain database documentation, including data standards.
• Solid understanding of NoSQL databases.
• Outstanding communication and collaboration skills to work in a team environment.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to provide quick solutions to issues.
• Able to influence the stakeholders, negotiate with them.
