Reporting to the Head of Finance, Group Financial Controller this position will work closely with the regional Finance team to lead and manage multiple operations of the tax practice area and to deliver quality tax services, that will increase Blueleaf Energy reputation. In addition, this position develops tax strategies and policies that help the business to maintain compliance with local and federal tax laws and regulations.
Job Responsibilities
Tax Compliance
Oversee and manage all aspects of Indirect Tax filings, Income Tax, Business & Property Tax for Blueleaf Group
Ensure accurate, timely preparation and filing of monthly Tax returns for multiple jurisdictions in partnership with external tax advisors
Manage Income Tax reporting by supporting data requests for estimated payments and Annual filing with tax advisors
Assist in quarterly tax provision calculations and financial statement disclosures
Monitor changes in indirect tax laws and regulations, ensuring ongoing compliance
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather necessary data for tax reporting
Review and reconcile tax accounts and resolve discrepancies
Monitor and ensure adherence to internal tax policies and procedures
Providing innovative tax planning and reviewing complex income tax returns
Conduct internal tax reviews and assessments to identify areas for improvement
Tax Strategy
Provide recommendations for tax planning and structure, considering both gst and income tax implications
Provide guidance on GST tax issues related to product and service offerings
Identify potential tax risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize exposure
Advise on the implications of business decisions on tax liabilities and risks
Tax Audits and Investigations
Act as the primary point of contact for GST/VAT tax audits and inquiries
Respond to tax audits, inquiries, and investigations from tax authorities
Prepare documentation, communicate with auditors, and resolve tax-related issues to ensure favourable outcomes
Develop and implement strategies to minimize audit exposure
Qualifications and Experience
Qualified Chartered Accountant
A robust background in public accounting with at least 4 years of experience
Demonstrated ability to lead and manage teams and multiple projects and clients
High proficiency with tax, accounting, and office software
Expertise in tax code, compliance and procedures with business clients
Experience working in the energy, power, utilities, industrial sector, with a good understanding of project life cycle from development, execution and to asset management an added advantage
