Position Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Team Lead Backend Development to manage and lead the backend engineering efforts for our Generative AI (Gen AI) projects. The successful candidate will lead the architecture, development, and optimization of scalable, high-performance backend systems that power our AI-driven applications. You will work closely with AI teams and other stakeholders to ensure smooth data flow, API development, and integration with cloud services.

Key Responsibilities:

• Leadership & Team Management: Lead, mentor, and manage a team of backend engineers, guiding them through development processes, code reviews, and best practices.

• Architecture Design: Design and implement scalable backend architectures that efficiently support Gen AI models and applications, ensuring reliability, security, and performance

• API Development: Oversee the development of robust APIs to support AI-driven features such as NLP, Chatbots, and other machine learning models, ensuring seamless integration with front-end and third-party services.

• Database Management: Architect, develop, and maintain efficient database systems (SQL/NoSQL) for storing and managing large datasets used in AI applications. Optimize queries and ensure the databases are secure and scalable.

• Cloud Infrastructure & Deployment: Lead the backend development and deployment of AI applications in cloud environments (AWS, Azure), ensuring smooth integration with cloud services and optimized resource management.

• Collaboration with AI Teams: Work closely with AI and data engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of AI models with backend systems, ensuring proper handling of data pipelines, model deployments, and real-time AI processing.

• Performance Optimization: Ensure that backend systems are optimized for performance, scalability, and fault tolerance. Conduct regular performance tuning and load testing.

• Code Quality & Best Practices: Enforce best practices in coding, testing, and documentation, ensuring that the team adheres to high coding standards, efficient testing frameworks, and version control systems (Git).

• Security: Ensure backend systems follow industry best practices for security, including data encryption, user authentication, and compliance with relevant standards such as GDPR or HIPAA.

• Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD): Establish and maintain CI/CD pipelines for backend services to ensure quick and reliable code deployments.

• Troubleshooting & Debugging: Take ownership of resolving backend issues, including diagnosing and troubleshooting complex technical problems, ensuring minimal downtime, and responding to high-priority bugs.

Desired Skills & Qualifications:

• Educational Background: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.

• Experience:
• 7+ years of experience in backend development, with at least 3 years in a leadership or team lead role.
• Proven experience working on backend systems for AI/ML-powered applications or services, including handling large datasets and real-time data processing.
• Strong experience in backend frameworks such as Node.js, Python (Django/Flask), Java (Spring), or similar.
• Technical Skills:
• Expertise in API development (RESTful, GraphQL) and microservices architecture.
• Strong proficiency in database design and management (SQL, NoSQL, such as MongoDB, PostgreSQL).
• Extensive experience in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), including services such as Lambda, ECS, API Gateway, RDS, S3, and similar.
• Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Knowledge of caching mechanisms like Redis or Memcached to optimize performance.
• Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, JavaScript, etc.) for backend development.

• Soft Skills:
• Excellent leadership skills with the ability to manage and inspire a technical team.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with attention to detail.
• Effective communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• A proactive and self-motivated approach, with a focus on continuous improvement and learning.

Bonus Skills:

• Experience with AI/ML model integration in production environments.
• Understanding of telecommunications technologies and protocols.
• Knowledge of AI-related backend systems, including model serving frameworks like TensorFlow Serving, PyTorch Serve, or similar.
