Role Summary
The Investor Relations Manager is responsible for expanding and nurturing the firm's network of
investors, aligning their interests with curated startup opportunities. This role focuses on
sourcing qualified investors, onboarding them onto the platform, maintaining robust
relationships, and facilitating successful investment matches. The ideal candidate will thrive in a
dynamic environment, possess strong communication skills, and have a deep passion for the
startup ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
1. Sourcing and Onboarding Investors
• Conduct in-depth research to identify high potential investors aligned with BizDateUp's
startup portfolio and investment criteria.
• Manage the end-to-end onboarding process for new investors, ensuring they are well-
versed with platform functionalities and investment opportunities.
2. Relationship Management and Investor Nurturing
• Develop and sustain strong relationships with existing investors, gaining insights into
their preferences, risk appetite, and investment objectives.
• Regularly engage with investors through newsletters, meetings, and updates on platform
activity, emerging trends, and opportunities.
3. Deal Flow Management and Matchmaking
• Collaborate with internal teams to curate and present high-quality deal flow that aligns
with investor interests.
• Match investors with suitable startups by analysing their profiles, ensuring mutually
beneficial connections.
4. Investment Facilitation and Success Tracking
• Support initial stages of investment discussions, coordinating meetings and ensuring
both parties have necessary information.
• Monitor key metrics such as investor engagement, investment conversion rates, and
satisfaction levels to refine strategies.
5. Industry Awareness and Advocacy
• Stay informed on startup funding trends, investor preferences, and regulatory updates
relevant to venture capital.
• Represent the firm at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities,
promoting the platform and building the brand.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
1. Investor Sourcing and Onboarding
• Number of new qualified investors onboarded monthly/quarterly.
• Efficiency and satisfaction scores in the onboarding process.
2. Relationship Management and Engagement
• Retention rate of existing investors.
• Frequency and quality of investor touchpoints (newsletters, meetings, updates).
• Investor satisfaction scores based on feedback and surveys.
3. Investment Facilitation and Deal Conversion
• Number of successful matches facilitated between investors and startups.
• Conversion rate of presented opportunities into investments.
• Average time taken to move investors from initial interest to commitment.
4. Platform Utilization and Success Metrics
• Percentage of active investors engaging with the platform monthly.
• Total investment volume facilitated through the platform.
5. Advocacy and Branding
• Number of events attended and partnerships initiated.
• Growth in brand awareness as measured by investor inquiries or referrals.
Qualifications and Skills
Educational Background
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or related fields
(preferred).
Experience
• 1+ years of experience in investor relations, venture capital, private equity, or a related
role (preferred).
Core Skills
• Strong relationship building and interpersonal skills to engage with diverse investor
profiles.
• Analytical ability to evaluate startups and align them with investor interests.
• Proficiency in communication, with excellent presentation and negotiation capabilities.
• Familiarity with financial modelling, investment terminology, and CRM tools.
