Overview of The Role:

The Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) is a critical senior-level individual contributor role within our SDET team, reporting directly to an SDET Manager. This position is primarily responsible for designing and implementing sophisticated, scalable automated testing solutions within our existing frameworks, ensuring the highest level of confidence for developers and stakeholders.

As a Senior SDET (Software Development Engineer in Test), you will be responsible for test planning, test scenario design, test case development and test automation suite development, to assess and improve the overall quality of our products.

A successful candidate will have deep technical expertise in testing and automation, as well as strong leadership abilities capable of driving team and department outcomes while mentoring junior engineers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Create and execute test plans, test cases and scripts that will determine optimal application performance according to specifications. Responsible for products end to end testing methodology and strategy by following best practices.
• Review requirements, specifications and technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback. Creates and maintains automation Frameworks in Java, making design choices to fulfil engineering needs.
• Build and share proof of concepts for test automation proposals and ideas. Leading Design, Planning and Implementation of manual & automation testing and documentation
• Understand the customer use cases and incidents and come up with test scenarios as needed.
• Develop solutions and proposals to lead the automation development strategy and implementation that would help maximize Birdeyes products quality.
• Communicate, coordinate and align automation strategy with the engineering team members, make recommendations to improve reliability, best practices and processes.
• Designing, developing, and maintaining automated test scripts using testing frameworks like Cypress, Selenium, Appium, TestNG and JUnit. Execute automated tests and report defects.
• Implementing test scripts for functional testing, regression testing, and integration testing to ensure the quality and reliability of web applications.

• Identify, document, and track bugs using bug tracking tools like JIRA. Perform testing activities involved with End-to-End testing, System Testing and UAT testing.
• Experience in Defect reporting and retesting, performing regression testing, integration testing, end-to-end testing, API testing. Performs root cause analysis to prevent future occurrence of issues.
• Analyze documentation and technical specifications of any new application under development or consideration to determine its intended functionality.
• Ensure that testing activities allow applications to meet business requirements and systems goals, fulfil end-user requirements, and identify existing or potential issues
• Responsible for assessing bugs priority & severity, effectively communicate to stakeholders.
• Engage with Product Management and Business Teams across the globe to drive the agenda, understand priorities and lead towards delivering quality products.

Minimum Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in software development, testing, and automation.
• Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Design and proficient in the flow of code through the Software Development Life Cycle and how it impacts testing strategies.
• Demonstrated ability to identify, assess, and mitigate potential risks and errors in applications
• Extensive experience with Continuous Integration (CI) and the integration of automated testing in CI/CD pipelines.
• Proven ability to debug complex code issues and provide effective solutions independently.
• Passion for testing, development, and design, with a focus on delivering high-quality, user-centric products.
• Strong problem-solving capabilities and exhibits strong Computer Science Fundamentals.
• Clear communicator with strong organizational skills.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Math or similar, or equivalent experience.
• Proficient in any of the programming Java, JavaScript, Python, Proficient with automation testing tools such as Cypress, Selenium, Appium, JUnit, and TestNG
• Proficient with API testing tools such as REST Assured, RestSharp or JMeter.
• Experience in troubleshooting test failures and make appropriate fixes.
• Experience in performing feasibility, compatibility test & prototyping for various features.
