Mobile Phlebotomist

Role & responsibilities

1. Sample Collection & Patient Care:

• Travel to patient homes, offices, or healthcare centers for blood sample collection.
• Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection safely and efficiently.
• Ensure minimum discomfort to patients, especially elderly or pediatric patients.
• Properly label, document, and package samples for transport.

2. Compliance & Safety Standards:

• Follow standard phlebotomy procedures, infection control, and biosafety guidelines.
• Adhere to NABL, CAP, and clinical laboratory quality standards.
• Maintain accurate patient records and sample collection logs.

3. Sample Handling & Transportation:

• Ensure timely and safe transport of specimens to the designated laboratory.
• Maintain proper temperature and storage conditions for different types of samples.
• Handle emergency situations (e.g., patient fainting, excessive bleeding) professionally.

4. Customer Service & Communication:

• Maintain a friendly and professional attitude while interacting with patients.
• Educate patients about pre-test requirements (e.g., fasting before blood tests).
• Communicate effectively with laboratory teams regarding urgent samples or special requirements.

Preferred candidate profile

• Diploma / Certification in Phlebotomy, Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT), or Nursing.
• Additional certifications in First Aid, CPR, or Infection Control (preferred).
• Experience in home sample collection, pediatric and geriatric phlebotomy is an advantage.

• Ability to comfort patients and handle anxious individuals professionally.
• Experience in dealing with elderly, pediatric, and critically ill patients.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain patient confidentiality.

• Willingness to travel for home sample collection (own vehicle preferred).
• Ability to work in flexible shifts, including early mornings and weekends.
• Basic computer or mobile app proficiency for data entry and reporting.
