Job Summary:
- The Skills Academy Leader will be responsible for driving the development, implementation, and continuous evolution of the organization's Skills Academy, focusing on building a comprehensive skills framework and a learning strategy that empowers employees at all levels.
- This leader will champion the creation of targeted learning programs designed to address current and future workforce needs, ensuring alignment with the organization's strategic goals. They will work closely with HR, business leaders, and employees to ensure the continuous development of skills and capabilities across the organization. The Skills Academy Leader will play a key role in cultivating a culture of continuous learning and supporting employee development through innovative learning initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Leadership of the Skills Academy Vision and Strategy:
- Define and lead the vision for the Skills Academy, ensuring it supports the organization's long-term business strategy and goals.
- Develop and implement a forward-thinking skills strategy that identifies the skills needed for current and future business success, aligning with organizational objectives.
- Establish and lead the creation of a comprehensive skills framework that defines core competencies and capabilities required across all functions of the business.
- Ensure the Skills Academy becomes a key enabler of talent development, employee engagement, and organizational growth.
2. Skills Framework Development and Management:
- Drive the development and ongoing refinement of the skills framework to ensure it reflects current industry trends, emerging skills, and future business requirements.
- Collaborate with senior leadership and department heads to identify critical skills gaps and address them through structured learning initiatives.
- Create and maintain a skills inventory to map current employee capabilities, facilitating workforce planning, talent development, and succession planning.
- Monitor industry trends and adjust the skills framework to meet evolving business and technological needs.
3. Design and Implementation of Learning Strategy:
- Lead the design and execution of a holistic learning strategy that incorporates various learning modalities (e.g., in-person, e-learning, blended learning) to meet diverse employee needs.
- Develop learning pathways that provide structured career development opportunities and upskilling opportunities for employees at all levels.
- Drive the integration of the Skills Academy with other key HR initiatives, such as performance management, talent acquisition, and employee engagement, to ensure a cohesive and integrated learning experience.
- Foster a learning culture that encourages employees to take ownership of their development and pursue growth opportunities.
4. Leadership Development and Career Pathing:
- Design and implement leadership development programs that align with the organization's leadership competency model and succession planning objectives.
- Develop targeted learning interventions to build leadership capabilities at all levels of the organization, from emerging leaders to senior executives.
- Partner with HR and business leaders to create clear career pathways for employees, ensuring they have access to the right resources and learning opportunities to advance within the organization.
5. Learning Program Design and Execution:
- Oversee the development and delivery of innovative learning programs focused on both technical and soft skills, ensuring they meet the needs of the workforce and drive performance improvement.
- Lead the design of customized programs for different employee segments, such as new hires, high-potential employees, managers, and technical specialists.
- Work with subject matter experts (SMEs) to create relevant, engaging, and impactful content that resonates with employees and enhances their learning experience.
- Ensure all learning programs are scalable, accessible, and adaptable to different learning styles and delivery platforms.
6. Learning Culture and Employee Engagement:
- Promote a culture of continuous learning by encouraging employees to develop their skills and take advantage of learning opportunities within the Skills Academy.
- Foster an environment that values learning as a core organizational value, encouraging employees to engage with training programs, share knowledge, and develop professionally.
- Measure employee engagement and satisfaction with learning programs, making adjustments based on feedback to improve the overall learning experience.
7. Data-Driven Learning Analytics and Reporting:
- Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the effectiveness of learning programs and their impact on business performance, employee growth, and retention.
- Use learning analytics to gather insights, identify skills gaps, and refine learning strategies to ensure continuous improvement.
- Provide regular reporting to leadership on the progress of learning initiatives, highlighting successes, challenges, and opportunities for growth.
8. Budget and Resource Management:
- Develop and manage the budget for the Skills Academy, ensuring efficient allocation of resources to maximize the impact of learning initiatives.
- Identify and implement cost-effective learning solutions that meet the needs of the organization without compromising on quality.
- Oversee relationships with external learning vendors and partners, ensuring quality, cost-effectiveness, and alignment with the organization's learning goals.
9. Change Management and Learning Innovation:
- Lead change management efforts around the adoption of new learning initiatives and technologies, ensuring successful implementation and engagement across the organization.
- Stay ahead of emerging trends in learning and development, integrating innovative approaches (e.g., digital learning, gamification, microlearning) to enhance the learning experience.
- Experiment with new technologies and methodologies that improve learning effectiveness and accessibility for employees.
10. Compliance and Standards:
- Ensure all learning and development initiatives adhere to applicable industry standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices.
- Stay updated on compliance regulations related to employee training and development, ensuring programs are aligned with legal requirements.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Learning & Development, Business Administration, or a related field. A MBA/Master's degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CPLP, SHRM) is a plus.
Experience:
- Minimum of 15-18 years of experience in Learning and Development, with at least 5 years in a leadership or senior management role.
- Proven experience in designing and leading organizational-wide skills frameworks and learning strategies.
- Strong background in leadership development, succession planning, and employee learning and engagement.
- Experience working with business leaders and HR teams to align learning programs with organizational goals.
- Familiarity with the latest trends and technologies in learning and development, including digital learning tools, LMS, and mobile learning platforms.
- Experience with agile learning design and creating digital-first learning experiences.
Experience working in a global or multi-regional environment with diverse learning needs.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to align learning and development initiatives with business goals.
- Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively engage employees and leadership on learning initiatives.
- High proficiency in designing and delivering engaging learning content across various modalities (in-person, virtual, e-learning).
- Ability to use data and analytics to evaluate the effectiveness of learning programs and make data-driven decisions.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage budgets, resources, and timelines effectively.
Technical Skills:
- Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and e-learning development tools.
- Familiarity with data analytics platforms and reporting tools to track and assess learning outcomes.
