Devops Engineer/SRE DevOps

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced SRE & DevOps Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for fast software releases while maintaining cost-effectiveness focusing on CI/CD and SRE with observability implementations and systems administration. The SRE is a key player in maintaining and enhancing software systems operational efficiency. This role will focus on deployment automation and system optimization, ensuring consistent performance and reliability. The ideal candidate will have robust problem-solving skills and a strong desire to implement scalable and sustainable technological solutions.

Key Responsibilities: SREs typically take on designing and implementing the automation of deployment processes. Work towards optimizing pipelines to make software delivery seamless. Some typical responsibilities include:

• Infrastructure scalability projects: Designing and implementing scalable, highly available system architectures to handle increasing loads and user demands without compromising performance.
• Continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines: Creating and optimizing CI/CD pipelines to automate testing and deployment processes, reducing the time from development to production and ensuring consistent quality control.
• Disaster recovery planning: Developing and testing disaster recovery plans to guarantee data integrity, system resilience, and swift restoration of services in case of critical incidents.
• Optimization: Monitoring system performance, identifying bottlenecks, and executing pipeline optimization. Metrics: Implementing comprehensive service metrics to track and report on system reliability, performance, and efficiency.
• Development: Developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, enhancing the consistency and speed of software deployment.
• Automation: Automating routine tasks and creating tools to improve team efficiency and system robustness.
• Collaboration: Collaborating with development teams to integrate operational considerations into the software development life cycle.
• Management: Managing incident response protocols, including on-call rotations for junior engineers and strategic planning for senior personnel.
• Analysis: Conducting post-incident reviews to prevent recurrence and refine the system reliability framework
• Preparation: Contributing to disaster recovery plans and ensuring robust backup systems are in place.
• Design and implement the architecture of the next generation of automated infrastructure following Infrastructure as a Code model.
• Build and maintain container native CI/CD pipelines.
• Build tools and automation to improve system's observability, availability, reliability.
• Design & Implement observability stack for the infrastructure - System/Application alerts /Security controls/Cost.
• Practice sustainable incident response as well as participate in blameless postmortems. Envision, implement and rollout best DevOps tooling and automation for all of our services. Mentor other engineers, define our technical culture, and help build a fast-growing team. Detect issues & automatically handle failures.
• Prepare disaster recovery plans & keep the system up and reliable.
• Mitigate broken systems and prevent them from causing future disruptions.
• Ensure system reliability and availability. Identify, assess, and implement measures to eliminate potential risks that could impact the performance of systems and services.
• Uses alerts, tickets, logging mechanisms, and request times to monitor a systems health. This ensures the system is stable and minimizes user disruption. In case a bug occurs, they respond immediately to resolve it.

Requirements:

• 4-5+ years of hands-on experience in Site Reliability Engineering or DevOps role.
• Strong experience in maintaining AWS cloud infrastructure or any other hyperscaler.
• Experience with infrastructure automation and container orchestration tools - Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Helm, etc.
• Good understanding of concepts related to computer architecture, data structures and programming practices.
• Hands-on experience with scripting languages like Python and Bash (Shell).
• Strong debugging/troubleshooting skills. Deep working knowledge on linux servers and networking.
• Experience with monitoring/logging solutions like DataDog, Dynatrace , ELK, Grafana, Prometheus, Splunk, Open Telemetry, etc.
• Familiarity with continuous integration and deployment tools like Gitlab CI/Argo workflow/Argo CD. Troubleshooting and managing failing systems. Kubernetes and containerization technologies automate this process by managing data on various systems.
• Experience with modern cloud development practices (microservices architectures, REST interfaces, etc. ).
• Experience in managing distributed systems like Kafka/Scylla/Cassandra etc.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Educational background: A bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related technical field.
• Technical expertise: Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Node.js, Shell, etc.
• Systems knowledge: In-depth understanding of operating systems, networking, and cloud services.
• Experience: Proven experience in managing large-scale distributed systems and understanding the principles of scalability and reliability.
• DevOps practices: Familiarity with DevOps culture and practices and experience with CI/CD toolchains. Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, Github, Gitlab, Jenkins, etc).
• Troubleshooting Skills: Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex systems and data. Proficiency in business analysis techniques, such as SWOT analysis, gap analysis, and root cause analysis.
• Certifications: Industry certifications in cloud services, networking, or systems administration.
• Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Systems Architecture: In-depth knowledge of system design and experience with scalable and reliable infrastructure.
• Networking and Security: Understanding of network protocols, security best practices, and ability to implement secure and robust solutions
• Cloud Platforms: Competence in using cloud services such as AWS, GCP, or Azure for deploying, scaling, and managing applications and infrastructure
• Scripting and Coding: Proficiency in scripting languages like Python or Bash and coding with languages like Go or Java
• Containerization and Orchestration: Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes for container management and deployment
• Networking fundamentals: Understanding network protocols, load balancing, and firewall management for secure and efficient network operations.
