Summary:
The Regulatory Affairs Specialist at Bayfield Food Ingredients plays a critical role in ensuring compliance with global and local food regulations. This position involves working closely with cross-functional teams (R&D, Quality, Sales, Marketing) and external partners (regulatory agencies, industry associations, customers) to maintain the highest standards of regulatory adherence. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of food regulations, exceptional communication skills, and a keen eye for detail.
Key Responsibilities:
Regulatory Compliance: Monitor and interpret evolving food regulations (e.g., FSSAI, Codex Alimentarius, FDA, EU regulations) and provide actionable guidance to internal teams.
Documentation Management: Prepare, update, and maintain regulatory documentation, including technical dossiers, ingredient specifications, and labeling information.
Regulatory Submissions: Prepare and submit applications, notifications, and export documentation to relevant authorities (e.g., FSSAI product approvals).
Labeling Compliance: Review and approve product labels and marketing materials to ensure alignment with regulatory requirements.
Ingredient Evaluation: Assess the regulatory status of new and existing ingredients, including safety data and compliance with permitted usage levels.
Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary contact for regulatory agencies, industry associations, and customers on compliance-related matters.
Audit Participation: Support internal and external audits to ensure regulatory compliance and address any findings.
Training and Development: Conduct training sessions for internal teams on regulatory requirements, updates, and best practices.
Regulatory Monitoring: Track regulatory changes and assess their potential impact on company products and operations.
Database Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date regulatory databases to ensure data integrity.
Industry Trends: Stay informed about emerging regulatory trends and industry best practices to drive continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor s or Master s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field.
Experience: 1 to 3 years in regulatory affairs within the food industry, with a preference for experience in food ingredients.
Knowledge: In-depth understanding of food regulations (e.g., FSSAI, Codex Alimentarius, FDA, EU regulations), labeling requirements, and food safety standards.
Skills:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
