Job Summary:
The Sensory Science Specialist will play a crucial role in developing and implementing sensory evaluation strategies for our diverse range of flavors and seasonings. This role requires a strong understanding of sensory science principles, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within a cross-functional team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about food and possess a keen sense of taste and smell.
Responsibilities:
Method Development: Develop and optimize sensory methodologies for evaluating various flavor and seasoning profiles, including descriptive analysis, discrimination testing, and consumer preference studies.
Panel Management: Recruit, train, and manage a sensory panel, ensuring consistent performance and adherence to established protocols. This includes training panelists on sensory attributes, evaluation techniques, and data collection procedures.
Consumer Research: Design, execute, and analyze consumer behavior trials to understand product acceptance, preference, and drivers of liking. This includes preparing comprehensive white papers summarizing the findings and providing actionable insights.
Sensory Quality Control: Establish sensory mechanisms for finished product approval in the factory, ensuring consistent quality and adherence to sensory standards. This may involve developing sensory checklists, conducting routine evaluations, and providing feedback to production teams.
Data Analysis: Analyze sensory data using appropriate statistical methods and interpret results to provide meaningful insights for product development and marketing teams.
Collaboration: Work closely with product development, marketing, and quality assurance teams to provide sensory guidance and support product innovation and improvement efforts.
Literature Review: Stay abreast of current trends and advancements in sensory science and related fields.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of sensory evaluations, panel performance, and research findings.
Qualifications:
Education: M.Sc. Chemical Science, Food Science, or a related field.
Experience: [2 to 5 years in sensory evaluation or similar, preferably in the food industry.
Skills:
Strong understanding of sensory science principles and methodologies.
Experience in panel management and training.
Proficiency in statistical analysis of sensory data.
Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Familiarity with sensory software and data analysis tools.
