The primary role of Barclaycard Testing team is the delivery and support of various Barclaycard Applications such as Triumph, Debt Manager, TRACS, PEGA, Woolwich, etc, performing the maintenance support activities required to ensure the high levels of availability demanded by the Banks key applications. The role includes project delivery and support work, incident resolution via Service First and Disaster Recovery activities. There is a focus on continuous review of processes with intention to automate as much as possible and decrease the amount of manual work required.

To be successful as a Head of Barclaycard Testing, you should have experience with:

• Provides assistance to colleagues while working on projects requiring Infrastructure support. Proactive identification of possible major incidents. Provides the governance, technical authority, leadership, and direction necessary for the resolution of technical issues.
• Subject matter expert in one or more key area and can represent the whole of the Infrastructure Component to a wider audience. Can act as a contact person for the area for new high scope infrastructural changes.
• Provides direction for technology within specialist area. Demonstrates broad-based view of business issues and activities. Demonstrates excellent influencing skills to input into the platform strategy for Barclays.
• Outstanding problem diagnosis using analytical skills. Excellent leadership and stakeholder management skills have worked in high pressure environment - can influence technical decisions and senior stakeholders.
• Has expert knowledge of REXX, extensive DB2 and application process knowledge. and he has expert knowledge of the TWS scheduling tool.

Purpose of the role

To lead and manage engineering teams, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure the delivery of high-quality software solutions, driving technical excellence, fostering a culture of innovation, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to align technical decisions with business objectives.

Accountabilities

• Lead engineering teams effectively, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture to achieve project goals and meet organizational objectives.
• Oversee timelines, team allocation, risk management and task prioritization to ensure the successful delivery of solutions within scope, time, and budget.
• Mentor and support team members professional growth, conduct performance reviews, provide actionable feedback, and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Evaluation and enhancement of engineering processes, tools, and methodologies to increase efficiency, streamline workflows, and optimize team productivity.
• Collaboration with business partners, product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions and ensure a cohesive approach to product development.
• Enforcement of technology standards, facilitate peer reviews, and implement robust testing practices to ensure the delivery of high-quality solutions.
