Job Overview:

As the Engineer Manager for Bengaluru Airport Services Limited (BASL), you will play a crucial role in overseeing the maintenance, safety, and efficient operation of engineering services across BASLs facilities, including lounges, transit hotels, and other properties. You will work closely with the Head Engineering to ensure that engineering operations align with BASLs standards and contribute to delivering a seamless guest experience.

Responsibilities:

• Engineering & Maintenance Oversight: Plan, manage, and execute a range of engineering, maintenance, and management tasks to maintain BASLs high standards.
• Department Support: Act as the primary backup for the Head Engineering, managing department operations in their absence, and ensuring continuity and efficiency.
• Staff Management & Rostering: Implement duty rosters, supervise shift transitions, and manage maintenance repairs to maintain smooth operations.
• Inventory & Resources: Oversee the Engineering inventory, including all tools, materials, and supplies, while leading initiatives for energy conservation.
• System & Equipment Management: Supervise M&E (Mechanical & Electrical) systems to ensure efficient repair and maintenance, covering HVAC, electrical systems, and other critical equipment.
• Training & Performance Management: Develop and implement training programs for engineering staff, evaluate team performance, and foster skills improvement to ensure high-quality service.
• Facility Maintenance & Safety Compliance: Ensure that all BASL facilities are maintained according to safety and regulatory standards, contributing to a safe environment for staff and guests.
• Sustainability Initiatives: Lead the implementation of energy-saving and environmentally friendly practices, including fire safety and emergency protocols, aligning with BASLs sustainability goals.
• Quality Assurance: Conduct routine inspections across facilities to guarantee that all repair and maintenance work meets BASLs quality benchmarks.
• Equipment Monitoring: Review technical and daily reports to confirm the safe operation of all equipment, supporting efficient and reliable service.
• Workload Management: Balance labor assignments and workloads to optimize productivity and maintain smooth operational flow within the department.
• Event Coordination: Collaborate with relevant teams to support events at BASL properties, ensuring facilities and technical requirements are fully prepared.
• Reporting & Communication: Prepare regular reports on Engineering department performance, identify improvement areas, and ensure transparent communication with leadership.
• Cost & Stock Control: Manage the purchasing of Engineering stock to reduce wastage and optimize cost savings.
• Water Quality Management: Monitor the water treatment system to ensure a reliable supply of high-quality water for BASL properties.
• Safety Coordination: Collaborate with Security to conduct fire safety meetings and maintain the integrity of fire prevention systems.
• Energy Management: Track and analyze energy consumption data, implementing measures to minimize energy use.
• Stakeholder Liaison: Maintain proactive communication with local authorities to address any regulatory or operational concerns.
• Environmental Responsibility: Promote BASLs commitment to sustainability by minimizing material waste and encouraging eco-friendly practices.

Qualifications:

Education: Undergraduate degree in Engineering or a related field.

Language Proficiency: Fluent in English to meet business communication needs.

Experience: Minimum of 10 years in hotel, airport, or building engineering services, with at least 5 years in an Assistant Chief Engineer role within a luxury or premium setting.

Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge in water treatment, hydraulics, mechanics, HVAC, electronics, lighting, elevators, boilers, pumps, and other essential engineering systems.

Maintenance Capability: Demonstrated ability to oversee all facilities engineering services, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire safety, and sound systems.

Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with relevant government regulations and standards.

Energy Conservation: Proven experience implementing energy-saving practices.

Leadership Skills: Ability to train, coach, and motivate the Engineering team effectively.
