Job Overview:
The Manager - Production Planning and Inventory Control (PPIC) at Banaraswala Wire Mesh Pvt Ltd (BWM) is a key corporate role responsible for coordinating production schedules, managing inventory levels, and optimizing processes across all manufacturing facilities and branches. This role is critical for aligning production activities with market demands and company objectives, ensuring efficient and cost-effective operations. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), the Manager - PPIC will oversee the planning, execution, and monitoring of production and inventory strategies to support BWM's business goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Production Scheduling:
Demand Alignment: Develop and manage production schedules that align with market demands, sales forecasts, and customer orders, ensuring timely and efficient production across all factories.
Resource Optimization: Optimize the use of resources, including labor, materials, and machinery, to meet production targets while minimizing costs and downtime.
Coordination: Collaborate with Factory Managers to ensure that production plans are executed effectively, addressing any scheduling conflicts or challenges that may arise.
Inventory Management:
Inventory Levels: Oversee inventory levels across all branches and manufacturing facilities, balancing supply and demand to prevent excess stock or shortages.
Stock Replenishment: Manage the replenishment process, ensuring that inventory is maintained at optimal levels to meet production and customer needs.
Inventory Accuracy: Implement and maintain accurate inventory control systems, regularly auditing stock levels and adjusting inventory practices as needed.
Process Optimization:
Efficiency Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements in production planning and inventory control to enhance overall efficiency, reduce waste, and increase throughput.
System Integration: Leverage technology and systems, such as ERP and MRP software, to streamline production and inventory management processes, ensuring real-time visibility and control.
Best Practices: Stay informed about industry best practices in production and inventory management, integrating relevant strategies and tools into BWM's operations.
Supply Chain Coordination:
Supplier Collaboration: Work closely with the Head of Procurement/Sourcing to ensure the timely availability of raw materials, coordinating deliveries with production schedules.
Logistics Management: Oversee the logistics of moving materials and finished goods between factories and branches, ensuring smooth and cost-effective distribution.
Reporting and Analytics:
KPI Monitoring: Track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to production efficiency, inventory turnover, and order fulfillment, providing regular reports to the COO.
Data-Driven Decisions: Use data analytics to identify trends, forecast demand, and make informed decisions about production and inventory strategies.
Performance Reporting: Prepare and present performance reports, highlighting achievements, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Sales and Operations Alignment: Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and Business Analytics teams to ensure that production and inventory plans align with market demands and sales strategies.
Cost Management: Work with the Finance team to manage production and inventory costs, ensuring that operations stay within budget while meeting business objectives.
Quality Assurance: Coordinate with the Quality Assurance team to ensure that production processes meet BWM's quality standards.
Team Leadership:
Team Management: Lead and develop the PPIC team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration.
Training and Development: Provide training and development opportunities to enhance the skills and knowledge of the PPIC team.
Key Qualifications:
Education: Bachelors or Masters degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or a related field.
Experience: 8+ years in production planning, inventory management, or supply chain management, with a strong background in manufacturing environments.
Certification: Any relevant certifications in their respective field will be an added advantage.
