A General Sales Manager for household products is responsible for overseeing all sales activities within a company that sells household goods, including developing sales strategies, managing a team of sales representatives, achieving sales targets, building relationships with key retailers, and ensuring customer satisfaction across various distribution channels, all while focusing on maximizing market penetration for household product lines. Key responsibilities may include:

  • Sales Strategy Development:
  • Team Management:
    • Recruiting, hiring, and training a high-performing sales team.
    • Providing ongoing coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback to sales representatives.
    • Delegating sales territories and responsibilities to team members.
    • Motivating the sales team to achieve targets and exceed expectations.
  • Customer Relationship Management:
    • Building and maintaining strong relationships with key retail partners, distributors, and wholesalers.
    • Negotiating pricing and sales terms with customers to optimize profitability.
    • Addressing customer concerns and resolving issues promptly.
  • Sales Performance Monitoring:
    • Tracking sales metrics (revenue, market share, customer acquisition) to identify strengths and weaknesses.
    • Analyzing sales data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
    • Regularly reviewing sales performance reports with the sales team to identify areas for development.
  • Product Knowledge and Promotion:
    • Staying updated on new product launches and features of household products.
    • Developing marketing and promotional strategies to support sales initiatives.
    • Educating sales team on product benefits and selling points to effectively communicate to customers.
  • Proven experience in sales management, preferably within the household products industry.
