Awfis - Director - Interior Design (15-20 yrs)

Position Overview: The Design Director - Interior Design will be responsible for driving creative excellence, leading multiple design teams, and ensuring all interior design projects align with Awfis' vision and brand identity. The role requires a strategic thinker with strong design leadership, client engagement skills, and expertise in workplace interiors.

Key Responsibilities

1. Design Leadership & Concept Development

- Develop and drive overarching interior design concepts for projects, ensuring alignment with Awfis' vision and branding.

- Lead the creative direction for multiple design teams, fostering innovation and design excellence.

- Formulate presentation strategies and ensure high-quality design storytelling.

- Ensure projects reflect sustainability, equity, and user experience best practices.

2. Client Engagement & Relationship Management

- Engage with clients and stakeholders to define project vision, goals, and objectives.

- Lead design presentations and interviews with clients, contractors, and consultants.

- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with corporate clients and partners.

- Provide design solutions that align with client needs, budget considerations, and project constraints.

3. Project Execution & Coordination

- Oversee all phases of interior design, from programming to construction documentation.

- Ensure seamless collaboration with external consultants, vendors, and strategic partners.

- Coordinate with core & shell teams, professional consultants, and contractors.

- Manage the selection and presentation of furniture, finishes, and lighting.

- Ensure timely project delivery while maintaining design intent and quality standards.

4. Team Development & Mentorship

- Guide and mentor junior designers, fostering a culture of learning and professional growth.

- Assist in leading multiple projects at a high level, ensuring collaborative teamwork.

- Work closely with office leadership to identify, recruit, and develop top-tier design talent.

- Promote interdisciplinary collaboration to enhance Awfis' design quality and excellence.

5. Business Development & Market Expansion

- Partner with leadership to expand Awfis' presence in India and globally.

- Strengthen Awfis' market reputation through thought leadership and industry participation.

- Represent Awfis in public speaking engagements, industry events, and conferences.

- Support marketing and business development teams in proposal writing and project interviews.

6. Technology & Design Innovation

- Drive innovation through advanced design software, including Revit, SketchUp, and Enscape.

- Ensure integration of sustainable and universal design principles into projects.

- Leverage emerging trends in workplace design to create adaptable and future-ready spaces.

- Promote design automation and efficiency through the latest digital tools.

7. Strategic Sustainability & Inclusivity

- Champion sustainable design practices in alignment with Awfis' ESG goals.

- Implement strategies for resilient, high-performance, and WELL-certified interiors.

- Advocate for inclusive and accessible design solutions that cater to diverse user needs.

- Support firm-wide sustainability and resilience initiatives in all interior design projects.

Qualifications & Experience:

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field.

- 15+ years of experience in leading interior design projects, preferably in workplace or commercial interiors.

- Strong portfolio showcasing design leadership and innovation.

- Expertise in industry-leading design software and visualization tools.

- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.

- Proven ability to lead teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
