Mainframe CICS Administrator (4-6 yrs)

About the Job :

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Mainframe CICS Administrator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of CICS Transaction Servers and related products within a z/OS environment. This role requires a strong understanding of CICS architecture, performance tuning, and problem-solving skills to ensure the stability and efficiency of our critical mainframe systems.

Responsibilities :

CICS System Administration :

- Install, upgrade, and configure CICS Transaction Server, zCEE, CICS PA, and other vendor products (e.g., CAFC).

- Apply maintenance fixes and service packs to maintain system currency and security.

- Manage and configure CICSplex System Manager, JVM Servers, and Angels to optimize performance and resource utilization.

- Implement and manage CICS web services.

- Perform capacity planning and performance tuning to ensure optimal system performance.

- Administer and maintain CICS security, including SSL setup and troubleshooting.

Problem Resolution and Support :

- Monitor system performance and identify potential bottlenecks using tools like Omegamon, Sysview, or equivalent.

- Utilize system diagnostics tools such as CA SYSVIEW/Omegamon/Mainview, Fault Analyzer, and CICS PA to diagnose and resolve system issues.

- Troubleshoot CICS application architecture (CMAS/MRO and NON-MRO), design, and maintenance, including CICS connections from CICS, DataPower, WAS, and Java.

- Respond to and resolve incidents and service requests within defined SLAs using ticketing systems like ServiceNow or BMC Remedy On-Demand.

- Interpret and utilize assembler output listings for debugging and analysis.

System Maintenance and Documentation :

- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for CICS configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.

- Ensure documentation of all Disaster Recovery (DR) related operational processes and procedures.

- Maintain accurate records of system changes and configurations.

- Working knowledge of z/OS Job Control Language (JCL).

Technical Expertise :

- Demonstrate a strong understanding of System z communications and Systems Network Architecture (SNA) concepts.

- Apply knowledge of CICS SSL setup and troubleshooting.

- Demonstrate knowledge of mainframe security concepts.

Requirements :

- 4-6 years of experience as a Mainframe CICS Administrator.

- Proven experience in installing, configuring, and maintaining CICS Transaction Server and related products.

- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

- Proficiency in using system diagnostic tools like Omegamon, Sysview, Fault Analyzer, and CICS PA.

- Solid understanding of CICS architecture (CMAS/MRO and NON-MRO), design, and maintenance.

- Experience with CICS web services and CICSplex System Manager.

- Working knowledge of z/OS JCL.

- Experience with ticketing systems like ServiceNow or BMC Remedy On-Demand.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Ability to participate in a 24/7 on call rotation, and weekend maintenance windows.

- Experience with CICS SSL setup and troubleshooting.

- Understanding of mainframe security concepts.

Desired Skills :

- Experience with zCEE and CAFC.

- Knowledge of JVM Servers and Angels.

- Experience with DataPower, WAS, and Java connections to CICS.
