Scientist - Protein Science

Desired Profile:

Ph. D in Biochemistry/ Molecular Biology/Biotechnology with 0-2 years of experience in Protein expression and purification from multiple expression systems. Protein structure determination using protein crystallography, Cryo-EM etc. Protein characterization using mass spec. Handling of insect and mammalian cell culture is desirable

Roles & Responsibilities:

• To design constructs for recombinant protein expression in bacterial, baculoviral and mammalian expression system.
• To design constructs for crystallization of proteins / for cryo-EM studies.
• To express the recombinant protein from different expression system; Purify the protein to homogeneity using combination of different chromatography techniques and to crystallize the protein from structure determination.
• To screen conditions for crystallization, optimize crystal growth and obtain diffractable crystals.
• Generate experimental data and demonstrate reproducibility of experiments.
• To take general lab responsibilities and equipment maintenance.
• Maintain accurate records of experiments and confidential information.
• Understanding of systems and process pertaining to safety, health and environment.
