Job Description:
Senior Oracle DBA
Description: Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain all client databases which include performance monitoring, troubleshooting and client support.Perform changes within Company regulations and security standards. Assist with testing, implementation, and installation of new/improved systems, as well as product upgrades. Attend meetings and interact regularly with management, team, and clients to continuously improve services. Participate in On-Call rotation schedule.
Specific Duties:
Responsible for ensuring all database system operational processes are managed according to established service level agreements. Specifically;
Administration of database objects such as indexes, tables, views, constraints, stored procedures
Archiving, backup / recovery, replication, cloning, import/export and refresh
Administration of database users
Capacity Management and storage management
Design, test, and optimize/tune RDBMS components
Contribute to design, maintenance, and documentation of integrated database security and components in relation to SOX and SAS70 compliance
Review and assess new features or upgrades to existing RDBMS components as well as application database changes
For databases that may be supported in the future, reviews product literature to assess RDBMS differences and unique features. When possible, test new technologies and report results
ASM configuration and management with raw devices
ADDM and AWR configuration and management
RMAN backup and recovery
Grid Control configuration and management
Real application cluster administration in 19c,18c and 12c
Real application cluster installation and upgrade to 19c
Dataguard build and management
Patch management
Disaster Recovery Planning and execution
Vulnerability Assessments
R&R details are:
1. Monitoring and Health Checks during reported incident and problem
- Database Status: Check the status of all databases (up, down, etc.).
- Performance Metrics: Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as CPU usage, memory utilization, I/O statistics, and response times.
- Alerts and Logs: Review alert logs and system logs for any anomalies or errors.
- Database tuning
2. - Backup Verification: Ensure that daily backups are completed successfully and verify backup integrity. Start/stop and relocate backup agents (Avamar/Networker).
- Recovery Testing: Regularly test restore procedures to ensure that data can be recovered in case of failure.
3. - Dataguard rebuild and resolve sync issues when DG is out of sync.
- Relocate of instance in OnenodeRAC.
- Role Assignments: Ensure users have appropriate roles and permissions according to policy and approve request/change from security team.
- Oracle wallet creation and certificate maintenance.
4. Capacity Planning
- Space Utilization: Monitor tablespace usage and plan for future growth , work with customer and get required additional disks added via change.
5. Patch Management
- Updates and Patches: Stay informed about the latest patches and updates from Oracle. Schedule and apply them as needed with approval on schedule from customer (agreed patch level is N-1)
- Testing: Ensure that any updates are tested in a non-production environment before applying them to production and prechecks are carried out before actual implementation change.
- Standalone and RAC database patching to be implemented while resolving issues reported during change window.
- RACK administration to be added in Patch Management.
6.- Vulnerability Assessments: Regularly assess the database for security vulnerabilities using TSSA reports and work with customer for remediation or get exceptions
7.- Communication with Development Teams and customer on database schema changes, new deployments, and performance issues.
- Incident Response: Respond to incidents and issues in collaboration with IT operations and support teams and work with incident management team.
8. Disaster Recovery Planning and execution , perform all pre checks and confirm pre DR health checks .
- DR Drills: Participate in regular disaster recovery drills to ensure the organization can recover from major incidents.
